The pills have a totally different effect from booze I got that ahhhhhhh feeling and all is well with the world. I only ever got that with the first couple of drinks then it was the addiction kicking in until I felt sick. The pills were much more predictable

There's so many good ideas borne from experience on this thread - it is wonderful that you all stick around. xx
I totally get the 1st Jan thing. Trouble is I was always so hung over and felt too ill to even consider staying sober :congratulatory:

Yes and it is what keeps me honest. One of my major failings was to stop posting and reading and therefore not keeping the addiction and behaviours at the forefront of my mind.

There will always be a few odd balls wherever we go, just ignore them I think that mainly they are attention seeking

So, wise ones, is January a doddle cos everyone else is off the booze?

ha.. you can be special again in February.

Yep, agree about the annoying ones. we have to be in awe of one particular relative every year. You will probably read about it on the internet. OFF THE BOOZE FOR 31 DAYS - the super humans.

along the lines of 'so and so isn't as bad as' or 'I'm not as bad as' -- Joe's sister and brother would be very much along those lines -- she (the sister) was the saintly one - Joe and me sort of in the middle and the other brother and his wife were the alkies -- well then Joe and I quit - that knocked A (sister) down the ladder a bit for sure -- and then the other brother and his 'RAVING ALCOHOLIC' wife quit for month of November -- she was GOBSMACKED -- we knew by her reaction that she couldn't in a month of Sundays give up the grog for a month -- so we reckon she's facing the actual 'reality' of 'the ladder' !!!!
Dont stop there Molls... what happened next?? Who's still drinking and who is not??

Its hilarious, how we all have our boundary line and know exactly who is way worse than us.. and that 'worse' person believes that they are not as bad as the next cos they only drink on days ending with y or something..
I was reading online earlier, they estimate only 15% of problem drinkers seek help. At first I was shocked at this figure, but I suppose it makes sense really. Most learn to live and function like this, until they stop.
Glad to be in the 'Special' gang now.

Better go and move small people to bed..

Thank feck I'm learning to understand and manage that area. I also believe most if not all mental health issues are rooted in some kind of trauma. Self medication can often follow.
