Hi, Army -
I bumped a couple threads for those of you interested in reducing/eliminating sugar (or added sugar) intake.
Here's a user-friendly summary that explains why some people have similar experiences with food to those with alcohol: What Happens to Your Brain on Sugar, Explained by Science - Mic.
For me, intake of sugar or alcohol sets up a desire for the other. I quit sugar well before AL and believe that my drinking worsened at that time, just like many people develop a sweet tooth when they quit drinking. Our brains seen to want that fix one way or the other.
My full name is NoSugarOrCrappyCarbsOrGlutenOrAlcohol. It is doubtful that most people need to go that far to feel good but IMHO, experimenting is worth a try. We don't need any of them and like with AL, you might be shocked at how much better you feel w/o them.
Here's to a happy and healthy 2016 !

Thank you NS, thats great. I will need to do a bit more reading here, but I think it will be worth it. Would you ever have natural sugar, fruit for example? Is it all or nothing, just like alcohol?

Hey, no test and I'll not go on and on about my favorite topics unless asked :05.18-flustered:
So, as to fruit - I do eat some now and then but more like a treat or dessert. Berries are my favorite. Concentrated fructose sources like dates or other dried fruits are very special treats, with only one or 2 eaten. Amazingly, that is now enough. It takes about 30 days to have your tastebuds turnover and once you do, sweet things become so dang sweet, you really don't want much. I'm 100% gluten- and alcohol- free and about 95% on sugar and crummy carbs. I no longer am triggered to eat more junk or drink by a small serving of a treat. I've accidently ingested gluten with awful consequences and I refuse to run the experiment with Alcohol.
