No Mary. But we stayed with a band members sister in a suburb a few miles out of Dublin for a day or 2 and had a stroll around that fine city. We were based in the centre of Galway (city) staying with friends. I am keen to visit Ireland again with geetar under me arm, and will do.

Sounds like my first night, so desperate and broken. The first person I spoke to was Turnagain in chat. She was so normal and friendly I felt there was a glimmer of hope.

              Me:
              Hi there,

I'm new to this and still finding out how the site works. At the end of day 2, and wanted to say hello. I wrote in under the newbies nest forum as well.

              Regards, Sunbird

              From Starty....
Hi Sunbird, Great going on Day 3!
Your sleep patterns will sort themselves out over time but there are a few things you can try e.g. melatonin, keeping simulants like caffeine and nicotine to minimum, breathing or meditation exercises and chamomile tea to name but a few.
Oh and here is the link to the toolbox thread you asked about https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html
              Have a great day!

              and Jacky...
              Hi Sunbird,great going day 3.
I'm on day 37 AF and still not sleeping very well. Even took a seasickness pill 'cause it causes drowsiness!
Ask your chemist for any non-addictive sleeping aids.
I'm going to try Kalms,I think Vlad suggested them in another post.
Just rest when you can,be kind to yourself.
              We're all behind you.
              Cyber Hugs,
              Jackie xxx

Can't tell you how grateful I was to find such warmth and genuine help back then

....and then I had a massive all fall down in December 2010...tripped over my slippers and knocked myself oyt on my side table in the bedroom!. Went to hospital in an Ambulance... my blood alcohol was 06 something...

I gave up again(of course) and more or less up and down until Tony's death....and then I altogether stopped trying to stop drinking until Rehab!
Reading my old post, it seems like a different person wrote that. How far I have strayed from her......I seem to remember I liked her. She was a great person

I am going to dig out my first posts. Just before I joined here, I wanted to die. This place absolutely changed my life

Sorry, I know this weeks new thread has started.

Starty, no aha moment or specific turning point, but more a culmination of my recent many quits and the inner understanding of actually wanting to live sober finally getting through my head via the turmoil and post mortems that went on with those quits. My constant stop again/start again routine was becoming boring and I was so obviously just going round in circles for the last couple of years. Seeing the days pass, I think I simply now realize that life is short, and I still have a fair bit to do. I also want to find what fulfillment, contentment and love feels like. I am finding the more time I put between today and my last drink, the less gloomy my disposition and thoughts are.
