    A ONE YEAR shout out to ABCowboy!

    I am not sure what day that ABCowboy celebrated his one year date with his divorce from alcohol but I do know that it was not long ago.

    If this has already been posted, please forgive my redundancy. Regardless, I want to personally say congratulations to a person that added much goodwill and help to people on this forum and to the forum itself.

    Regardless of the reasons that Cowboy chose to leave, he certainly had every right to do so -as we all do. There is not one single 'one' of us on this forum that has not regretted mistakes that we made in the past and I dare say that there is a single person on this forum who has not become upset with at least one other person on this 'our' forum. In all of our efforts to become and remain sober, and live happy-contented af lives, we all must first eventually become able to forgive ourselves and then we must become able to quickly forgive others.

    Cowboy helped a lot of people on this forum and I do hope that he returns one day to continue his efforts here.

    ABCowboy, huge congratulations on your one year of sobriety. This is a huge accomplishment in the books of any alcoholic.

              One year of sobriety is huge. Congratulations my friend.
              No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

                  My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

                      just saw this one...so its a big congrats to you..well done ab...appreciate you are from Canadia but I thought I would put this little spin on it!!! a saloon in the wild west!!

                      AB cowboy now thats his name,
                      12 months on..no drinkin his game,
                      his name conjures pics up of the ole wild west,
                      but lissen to him..cos he knows the best

                      "now bartender set em up ,dont you be shy,"
                      "some cool sparklin water,no whisky an rye,"
                      the piano it stops and all heads a turnin,
                      he could feel their eyes ..his big back a burnin

                      jist then a chair he hears a scrapin,
                      as footsteps towards him their sound a makin
                      Now AB was bothered.. he had a plight
                      To walk out that door or stand there and fight.

                      A voice says "hey son we re ole friends I think,"
                      "My handles Jack Daniels ,now lets have that drink"
                      Says AB .."we were but those days are gone"
                      you want drink Jack..you have one, but yore all on yer own

                      "now that aint real friendly" said Jack with his glass,
                      so AB just decked him straight on his ass
                      Leavin Jack sparked out cold AB walks to the door,
                      now 12 months have gone ....that friendships no more
