Some things I do & say may disappoint others but it is never intentional.

    That made me chuckle Satzy

How was the cemetery yesterday Satz??
Lovely meal last night then then we headed over to the party. Loud, hot and standing room only... Is it just me???? Shouting was the only way to communicate or lip reading but one contact lens was in arse ways so I was probably fake laughing at someone telling me they had a terminal illness.
      So happy to be home.
Yep been out for a gorgeous walk with the dogger clan and Mr S. Perfect way to start the day

I feel your pain with the party and contact lens. I wear them and they are not fun when they are in wrong :haha:

My favourite days are spent relaxing.

We went to a surprise Golden Wedding for Mr Starts grandparents. It was nerve wracking in the sense that we thought one or both may have a heart attack!

Deffo were made tougher back in the day.
I remember a priest saying that about my mother in law. She was from the west of Ireland and of a bloodline that survived the famine.
The ones that that didn't take the ships to America , stayed and didn't starve to death HAD to be hardy and passed it down the generations.
That stuck with me for some reason - .......

I agree, look at all those who survived the war too. And you see our generations with our depressions, addictions and all manner of issues who seem to have forgotten what backbone was like. I include myself in this too....

Love that article Satz, it is interested to see what folks find important when faced with mortality

                      Evening lovelies,
Had a thought that made me ponder...........my Dad & Uncle fought in the 2nd World War all the way through1939-1945.........yet my dad came out as an alcoholic but my uncle no probs with the drink at all. .......as I say just a ponder.

Looks like the S&H and his GF look as if they've found the house of their dreams.

On my death bed...............mmmmmmmm No 1 and I wish I'd followed my gut feelings more.

Evening, thats interesting JC. Is alcoholism nature, nurture, both, neither. Its not reversible anyway, pity that.
If I pin point to when my drinking first escalated, it was a time of stress, but stress is inevitable. Ive always thought that its in your DNA, we are predisposed to be addicts once the other factors are correct.
                        Maybe not..

                          Hi the Army....

My Dad and his brothers were also in WW2 and also ame back alcoholic. My Dad was only 19yrs old and had been married to my Mom for three days! Must have been very traumatic, when you think about it. Mom and Dad celebrated their golden wedding anniversary 3 weeks before my dad died. He gave up drinking about ten years previous to that, just after their 40th anniversary. They loved each oher very much indeed.

Erin's second birthday party was wonderful! :happy2:

I don't think outside influence is what causes addiction.
I think it comes from inside - and our coping mechanism.
Your uncle had a more robust coping mechanism to deal with the stress possibly Jacks ?

Sure I dunno - then sometimes I think everyone would be addicted to some substance given the opportunity and no life and social obligations getting in the way.
I mean why do we drink or take drugs ?- to feel better.
I had this very discussion with my hairdresser last week. She doesn't drink a lot but when she does it is for the effect - to get drunk.
And she agreed that, hypothetically, if there was no restrictions like work, kids, hangovers, etc. she would and so would most of her friends drink every day
