Hello peeps. Lizz, hope you are feeling better today. I understand the tears, etc. Back in the day hubby told me my tears and recrimination were worse than me being drunk! His response to me was "you drank, you're sorry, get over it".
MB, how was dinner at Nana's?
I spent the day googling my injury b/c pain is not going away. Because the momentum of the car was forward and I was stopped by collision and seatbelt it could have stretched the muscles and popped out the hip. The body then responds by producing scar tissue in the muscle and there is no stretching scar tissue.
Maybe Ne can offer something. If it is indeed the case, how has my doctor not acknowledged the pain or given me a prognosis. Very frustrating but my p.t. starts Thursday and I deserve some relief that doesn't include opiates.
aihfl, as MB said your mom needs to hush because that's a little hurtful.
Pauly, you're sounding good.
Nora, how is mom today?
Glassy, nice to see you.
The no sugar challenge sounds good but not sure if I'm ready. Discovered Magnum caramel ice cream bars a while ago and it's become my nightly comfort food. Although as a hypoglycemic it's in my best interest to keep my blood sugar consistent.
Gotta go, my Calif Pizza is ready.Enlightened by MWO

quick check in from me. Exhausted so will catch you in the am.
Liz - thinking of you. How is your dad? How was your day?
Pauly - you are sounding good. Thanks for the congrats but I'm not 9 months yet. I'm around 8-1/2 I think. I just know what a mess I was 9 months ago.
Took mom to Dr for follow up. More tests to come. I went to the eye Dr for me and somehow I've got a little chunk taken out in the white p art in my lower eye. ????? Anyway, gave me antibiotic drops. Should be better in about a week. Supposed to try t o rest it. Yeah right. She said something about a bandage contact lens. I have such a phobia, I told her I wouldn't be able to do it."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Good job Ne on af days! I definitely needed fentanyl in Jan, but my town doesn't prescribe them, except in hospital and anyone asking for a refill is looked on as an abuser by most docs. 3wks after the incident I was totally non-functional with the pain, and was assured I'd be better in 6 wks!
P.T. starts this week, yay!Enlightened by MWO

Hi All, I am at work in Minnesota!
NE-Congratulations on your AF Days!!!:sohappy::welldone:
Skendall-It sounds like you have had incompetent and effective doctors...I feel so badly for you!:cuss: I hope PT brings us BOTH relief. The pain meds are NOT doing the trick. I met with my new doctor yesterday...he's nice...I have to see an anesthesiologist about my neck because I want a cortisone shot...I have heard they are very effective.
Techie-great to see you...and I have decided to give acupuncture a try!
Back later.

Nora, sorry about the eye. I'm ok, I suppose. Called my mom yesterday and she rushed me off the phone. Apparently her and dad were getting ready to eat. Dad was asking if I was upset with him. I'm so confused, I am not. I think he is just becoming more confused the older he gets. Sissy called me yesterday and the job for my BIL still did not come through. He got called back 3 times. Sorry guys I'm just really down right now. Hope you're all doing ok.

Techie.
Because I never received a diagnosis other than fractured spine, kidney tear and broken knee and I am almost passed the healing deadline on those diagnoses, I started to google long term pain after car accidents and did receive a plausible explanation but not a medical diagnosis.
I receive emails from The Washington Post and there was an article there about medical mysteries. I was left with the impression that if the patient's symptoms and diagnosis were beyond the initial presentation there was a dismissal. A doctor explained the older doctor's are much more competent than younger ones. It could be that they have had more experience. When my kids were younger my doctor could "smell" strep and was treated immediately without having the need for further tests. My current location is rural and it's having problems recruiting doctors. Many have retired and we have received a huge influx from CA because I think it's cheaper than CA living. This year has been 1400 and it's been going on for many years.
One consistent about moving is ALL members of the family need a doctor. 2 yrs ago there was a 1 yr waiting list for docs and with many seniors moving here they are more dependant on medical care and the result is your medical care is usually a physician's assistant or nurse prac. of which many are very good but tend to hustle you out to deal with the next.
Many drive to Seattle 2+ hours away. It's difficult to recruit city docs to rural areas and therein lies the problem here and in other areas of the U.S/ When I lived in Dallas I had excellent healthcare.
I seem to have rambled a little bit.Enlightened by MWO

Oh, I hope you all can find some relief from your pain. lease:
Techie - great to see you as always.
Liz - I am so sorry that you are down. Please come here and talk when you can. Tell us how you feel and what's going on. Don't try to keep it in. I'm sure the stress from your parents and from your BIL being out of work is weighing on you heavily. We're here for you.
:checkin: to everyone. Mom doing so much better. Pretty much back to normal. They are scheduling physical therapy so I'm hoping that will help her with her strength. My eye is better but still sore so not going to try to stay on here tonight. See you all tomorrow."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Hi all! Its great to see so many checking in. Liz, big hugs to you. Nora, I hope you eye is better.
I did drink over break, one night way too much. Nothing bad happened, thankfully, but . . . Does anyone have experience with Naltraxone? Does it cause side effects? Does it take away cravings? What if you have 1 -2 beers on it? I'm curious. I have the prescription filled, I'm just hesitant to try it.
Thanks for your input if you have any.
