That is this country all over - looking for 'a story' behind someone's decision to not pour poison into them.
Well I for one will NOT give these people their story - and neither will my family or friends. I refuse to give them any information. Let them make it up - I ain't bothered
I admit to 'searching else where', the dirt bag I am, when there's not much chat here, but I only look, never get involved
I was actually going to post the question on the topic of 'why do I not drink'. Coming back into communion and big birthday celebration times and I always feel awkward about it. I need a line to shut them up.. I do not want to share my reasons.
And good morning Army! A cracker out there, Just back from a run, my partner had a terrible hangover , poor thing :harhar:Last edited by IamMary; May 15, 2016, 05:16 AM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

I LOVE people with hangovers - the brat I am :congratulatory:
This is how evil : my SIL is making noise about quitting - but being selfish I want her there as a reminder of what I'm not missing.
I'm not too evil - she reckons she doesn't have a problem - :eek-new:

Now then we shouldn't mock the afflicted but with a hangover it is the time to blast out AC/DC and offer runny fried eggs followed by cornflakes with warm milk for brekkie.
When I got to the height of my drinking I never got hangovers I was just topping myself up 24/7.....no way to live.It could be worse, I could be filing.

This seems so right and normal, I feel like it's always been this way and it's hard to believe I spent all those years controlled by an addiction. It seems like that was someone else (and in some ways it was). I have to actively remind myself what those days were like once in awhile so I don't become complacent. Staying involved here helps with that.
Lovely local walk today, back to the pub for a drink (big group) and home to ours for Sunday dinner, with wine as my folks came. It felt normal not to drink..and that's major for me.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

So.. Best line for why one does not partake in alcohol? I know we discussed this before..I need reminders!
Had enough hangovers to last several lifetimes.
Gave it up for a while found I liked not drinking so much decided not to go back.
It affects my bowels........I get a bit of IBS now and again ( watch them run in the other direction)
Not drinking helps my depression. It could be worse, I could be filing.

I use a variation of no. 2 - its probably plausible enough. I shouldn't really care if they believable or not!
No. 1 is good.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

I've used:
- Cannot hack a hangover any more -which is true
- The gave it up & liked it one - which is true
- Gym guy told me to give it up if I want to lose weight - also true
- or an enigmatic - "I didn't give IT up - it gave ME up" - they wander off perplexed trying to figure that one out :haha:
