Evening folks sorry i've not been around the past few days i've terrible with eircom my current internet provider. The service has shite the past week or so and i'm trying to rid of them and get a dongle so i can have pay as you go internet service. I got in to a contract with them for 18 months as things were going well but not now. so i won't be online for a while till i get things sorted if ever i have crap service and i'm paying 50 55 euro a month seiously upset and pissed off anyway i'll be in touch when i can. x

Got my hair done, I was trying to grow it but got fed up and had it all chopped off again.

S&H and his GF have exchanged contacts and will move into their house 27th May..........he's all growed up............when did that happen :egad:

Glitz.. thats terrible and your not in the sticks!! I would kick up a stick, get someone out, do your speedtests, hound them until its sorted. Check your neighbours and threaten Joe duffy!

JC, I envy women who have the patience to let their hair grow, just to the shoulders.. I had mine chopped recently again. Maybe this year I'll try harder. Or get a wig.

AH JC.. I knew someone was going to start this ball rolling, I was hoping we were all going to keep our heads in the sand for a while longer.
Without new people, its naturally fading. From reading back before I arrived, It was really alive. Plus I think if anyone finds it, it accidental - MOW doesn't appear if you search under the usual headings.. That's probably funding and lack of ownership. Although with the new topic related ads appearing, maybe someone has a plan.

Yes I am feeling better, heading in the right direction ta. Content? well is it in our nature to ever be 100% content?

I've got to work today so I'm just going to leave some questions

Personally I would be sad if the army retired. I think MWO is a lifeline for many people, whose knows who comes to the site and reads when everything seems so dark and gains solace from the fact they are not alone out there.

hiya folks ..quick jump in..how are yizall doing?...brought the very same subject up this morning on the daily fred...seems at the mo majority itis the same old faces ...well not old as in old and decrepit but of long standing on here..got to agree with tabs tho...if it helps 1 person then its done the trick...but its kind of a case of how do we advertise/promote it..is there a case for narrowing down the number of fredz?are people not saying anything for fear of getting into arguments .../hassle as has been the case recently?if you look at the views across the boards ..there are still some pretty high numbers viewing them all ,but posts are pretty low..so what makes people look and then think ..aaagh cant be bothered /frightened /worried /embarrassed?...or do the number of views reflect how many times the regulars go on without necessarily posting all the time?

I agree with both Mick & Tabbs but the Army are not exactly doling out a lot of advice these days. We need everyone to share or it will fade away when one or two of the 'regulars' doesn't post for whatever reason.

The long term sober regulars are there to help and give the newer people their invaluable experience without judgement - if this is not asked for - they get bored.
So if everyone takes part then we can inject some life back into the thread. This thread needs work to survive.

Debates or disagreements are healthy imo - and add some life & passion.
So I don't agree with this part Mick :egad:- the Army has been a safe haven for years - but we still do not get posts.

This is my opinion - but me giving the weather forecast in Ireland - is not helping anyone.

There are so many well-advertised alternative forums, it probably isn't surprising there aren't many new people. Without them, people at later stages have no reason to write about why and how to quit, as you guys said above. I think that is where continuing to participate in a forum helps as time goes on - when we organize our thoughts to write to others and put them out there - we're recommitting ourselves. That opportunity is rare now. We no longer have a critical mass of people at various stages of quitting so the energy is really draining out.

I don't know know what happened a few years ago that caused problems, Molly. It must have been over by the time I joined. But there has been a big decrease in activity since then, also, and particularly in the last 6 months or so, I think. The thread I was involved in really faded when most of the regular posters became contentedly AF. As we discussed before, it is hard to join in on a thread that seems to be (not that it is) a closed club. I think the Ladies on a Mission thread seemed like that because we all knew one another well.

I've tried in the past to find a place in other forums but didn't have much success. If y'all move, please let me know where you go! :heart:, NS
