There's got to be something out there, Blinks, that has got to a damned sight easier than that rigmarole...........will you give me a couple of days to see if I can come up with something.
Of course as usual my first thought is a referral from your GP might put a rocket up their arses.

Ahh, G-Man...........visions of Blink with her Labrador on the back of her bike just made me smile.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

No, i'm 60 summit days! But i welcome any fanfare.

Blink, had my 2nd session with a psychologist today. I found one who works also with addictions. I've never been to any sort of counselling before. She is really good, and i'm finding it very useful, even enjoyable so far. She is well trained in all the stuff you mentioned CBT etc, but we are just yapping and getting on with the job in a seemingly (to me) informal relaxed way. There's no attitude and the vibe is warm and constructive/positive. She is very sharp, and respectful, which is why i'm continuing. She listens and we work through stuff together. Surely there are some decent psychologists near you. I hear they are hard to find. I must've been lucky, but regardless, her stated interest in addictions, led me to her.

These other people you've been dealing with sound a little burnt out to say the least. There are good people around too, but where do they bloody well hide?!

The trip may require some modification in that case, but nothing is impossible, certainly not a dog on a bike marvelling at Blinks hair in the wind. The dog'll love it! Stranger things have happened.

this is going to sound ridiculous but, i looked and found a drug and alcohol charity relatively near me, only they provided counseling further away in a big town with no parking. i imagined having a panic attack before and/or after going there. by going the route i have has caused stress too, in a different way.

i didnt want to be referred by the gp as i have trust issues with them but thats another story.

thanks though, i'd be grateful if you looked.

thats exactly what i have been looking for g. private i cant afford, even if i knew who to go to. so im stuck with our graceful nhs, not known for their quick or apt approach to mental health problems. they have only just started providing counseling in my area as i wanted it years ago and got the famous cbt. and ad's.

congrats on the 60 summit days.

So true...he doesn't have the intelligence to develop an original thought. Stolen ideas at best.

                            Evening Blink, Rusty and JC..
Roxy I am very sorry to read about what your going through. I don't have a solution. It sounds like you are trying every avenue open to you - that itself is a mini project.
Im sure you have looked at online groups? Are there any groups advertised within the community, local library?
What about about getting back to work, have you a CV, applied for any jobs? The skills you have will get you passed many doors. Even if its just a few hours a week.. a focus can change everything.

And write to you local representatives, be a pain in the arse. Loads of letters (better than email imho).

                            Do stay in touch.

Ta. This may be of interest -

'Access to Allied Psychological Services' (ATAPS) is the program i am getting for free (from a private psychologist), being a low income earner and a loopy addict. Any GP, doesn't have to be yours, can refer. I note your comments re GP trust and distance issues. Wonder if there's something identical there as Oz bases a lot of it's govt. programs on UK.
