Hey all -
Mr V, Techie, SK - good to see you. I keep hoping that AG will pop in soon too. Also, Red, NoSugar, SunshineDaisies TMH, frances and all of our other visitors.
I did catch one Pokemon. :rotlf: I couldn't understand quite how it worked so I had to check it out. But, that was it for me.
My niece & her husband and 3 of her boys were here today. They live in Texas and are out here on vacation. They wanted to see Grandma, of course. My other niece and her two kids were able to drive up (about an hour & a half away). So, we had a nice visit. A little overwhelming for mom but she handled it really well. The kids all adore her so it was fun.
I've been telling her for several days that they were coming. Just trying to prepare her a little bit. Sometimes, if we talk about things daily, she'll remember quicker when we talk the next day. I try to do that before the kids come in like that because she might not recognize them. I think that she would remember the face of her grandkids but probably not the names easily. Anyway, I mentioned it to her last night before we went to bed that they were coming over this morning and we wouldn't be able to sleep in. The problem is that I also mentioned that I wasn't going to cook and that if they were hungry, we'd go out & get sandwiches. Plus, I would run to the market in the morning to get snacks. Even before we went to bed, she started bringing it up. She remembered! Every 5 minutes or so, she would ask me who was coming over. Then a minute later she would ask if we had snacks. I am sorry to say that I was almost in tears by the time she fell asleep. I thankfully was able to answer her nicely every time but it was not easy. It was like one of those times when you would go and sit in the bathroom on the floor for a couple of minutes away from the children. :harhar: But, today was a happy day. :yay:"Only I can change my life. SK - so, is this a real offer on the house??? I mean a good offer that you would be able to accept in your price range?
I'm glad that hubby is paying those bills for you. I'm just sorry that you are in that position.
I never heard of a lavender festival. I just googled it and it looks like fun. There are some in California."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Oh Nora – I know you adore your mother, but I totally understand how exhausting it must be for you.
I don’t think I told you this story, but my great aunt, who was in her late 90’s and lived in Wales, had dementia and she was almost like a second mother to my Mum. So a few years ago my parents went from Australia to Wales to visit her. As you can imagine, that wasn’t very easy as they were both in their seventies themselves and it cost them about $25, 000 (which of course they didn’t mind spending under the circumstances).
Anyway, they spent a month visiting her every day and the whole time she kept asking the same questions over and over again (mainly about us girls and how were doing). Which was all fine. But then they came home, and when they rang her the day after they returned the first thing she said was “You promised you were coming to visit me, when are you coming?” :sad:There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

OK - shall we talk about something more cheerful?
I went shopping with the older couple of my young ones today and bought them a pram/stroller combo thingy which is apparently what they use these days. I don't know exactly what it does but it seemed to do clever stuff.
I can't wait to see our baby girl in it!There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

Thanks hunny
Yes it is very exciting.
They had the first of their ante-natal classes a few days ago and toured the hospital birthing suites. Apparently there are seven suites and two have pools in case they want a water birth. Can you even imagine that in "our day"?Last edited by Glass Half Empty; July 17, 2016, 03:06 AM.There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

Hi everyone. I am getting ready for a BIG 50 mile bike ride. I hope you are all making the best of the weekend.
SK, I am in process of starting a non profit for visually impaired veterans. I will be making several presentations over the next two to three months with my partners. These sessions will be scope business plan fund raising efforts. We already have several VIP's in both the government and private sector supporting our mission.
Have a great day xoxoOutside of a dog a book is mans best friend. Inside of a dog its too dark to read

Has anyone tried using charity miles app? I haven't really looked at it much but my niece is a runner in high school. She uses it and for every mile she runs so many cents get donated to a charity that you choose. She ran for all alzheimers yesterday. ☺"Only I can change my life.
