    Freedom.

Today I celebrate my freedom from alcohol. And I am also celebrating my freedom from having the worry of living with an addict. Painful as this separation is, I am grateful I no longer have that in my life.
No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

You read my mind little beagle, I had those same thoughts as I was reading this morning! It is a freedom that I will always be grateful for!

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Great theme! Definitely captures how I feel about quitting alcohol.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

I'm so happy for you, LB.
Thanks for starting this thread. I've had a challenging couple of days but alcohol never entered my mind as a "solution".
For me not to think of drinking in response to stress is true freedom and I'll be forever grateful.
