Morning kuya.. Your friend probably doesn't drink every day, just like a fish on certain days. I wonder when a person drinks like that, Is it harder to recognise that there is a problem?
I drank every day, like maybe most here. A 20 year habit..thought I should stop calling it that
I have a couple of family members who drink really heavy maybe just once a week and it's national news when they are on the January dry, how wonderful they are. Gets up my nose.
Yeah Mers. I don't understand it to be honest.
They obviously haven't discovered 'the cure' next day.
I think that is when I started on the slippery slope.
    Never did like hangover

Morning starts, no, not everyone is an alkie, but the lines are blurred, which makes it so hard to decide. I was forever doing those questionnaires, and usually was told to watch myself, could be showing signs of dependency (because I didn't have friends telling me I had an issue and never ended up in hospital).
It wasn't until I had a good chunk of sobar days behind me and life started to feel normal without booze that I knew that things were so much better without it.
If there was a question: can you go without wine for 1 day and it wouldn't bother you? - no, I couldn't (alarm bells?).. But other alkies can.

I did those questionnaires too. They along with the depression ones are so general that people interpret them how they want. There are not many who have a take it or leave it attitude to booze

Agreed it is her business and hopefully sooner rather than later she'll see the light. On both fags & alcohol.
I was thinking more that in my experience non-drinkers are usually scary to drinkers and being a drunk is not much fun when the person you are talking to is bored hearing the same story over & over and moves away.
              The mortification :egad:
So we are avoided by the real drinkers.

I really like her and hope she sees that being sober is not terrible. She is 15+ years younger than me so maybe it will dawn on her soon that it has to stop
Yes you are right. Some friends like us for who we are.
Most of my drinking was done at home - so drunk, sad, sappy Satz was rarely seen.
My 'wild' side was helped enormously by alcohol.
I have reverted somewhat to my quiet ways - with the odd flutter of madness and that's ok by me.....

Most of the pressure I am under is from myself.

I am the quiet type too. Just like keeping myself to myself mostly. I have a bit of a wild side but that is best kept under wraps

Just in before midday here so I can actually say good morning. Didn't get up til late and then moulded myself on the settee. Got Absolute Radio on and all tunes that are just to my liking.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Off to watch Poldark shortly but want to take a minute here.

Tony, bonnie lad. I know you've been lurking and probably feeling like shit on a stick at the moment. Now I may have 7 years plus behind me but I'll never forget the disappointment in myself and the eyes of Mr JC when I used to fall off the wagon at regular intervals.

Talk to us, love. We might ask you questions that make you feel a bit uncomfortable, but that means you're thinking. They're questions we've been asked and we only do this because we care.

I'm here and feeling like a complete idiot. Please no sympathy. I just had to prove to myself that I wasn't an alcoholic. Guess what? I've proved I am.

If that sounds stupid then it's because it is!

Hey Tony, great to see you. Sometimes I think we all need to prove that to ourselves and no one else can do it for us. Do you think it has reinforced your resolve?

Starty - It has scared me. I REALLY thought I could handle it... I think the second glass taught me the lesson - by then I knew I was going to get lashed but I couldn't stop myself.

                                I've proved I am addicted.

But yes, my resolve is reinforced. I'm not having another drink ever again. I just can't!
