SK - I was remiss in mentioning that I hope the storm bypasses you, having just had a brush with a hurricane. Thankfully Matthew stayed far enough offshore that the winds we had were nothing like Charley and Jeanne in 2004. I do feel for those poor people in North Carolina, though. I did have my hiking/kayaking headlamp loaded with fresh batteries just in case, though. Interesting about your son being a sommelier. I went to Napa a few years ago and saw that the real wine snobs do indeed use a spit bucket. Personally, I would never have the self-control to use one, but I guess that's one reason (out of many) that I'm an alcoholic.

Good morning Steppers!
I'm just doing a quick catch up before I go to work.
I had no further cravings for the rest of the weekend. Now to prepare for the next time I do!
I'm looking for a sponsor in AA. I have a meeting that I think I will make my home group. I feel comfortable there, and it's on a big farm. Fireplace, bookshelves, many events for the family as well as the alcoholic. It's really a special place.
I'm still struggling with depression and I have to fight to get out of bed every morning. I read affirmations and pray, etc. I go to bed at 7 lately just to get away from everything. My house is a disaster but I'm working on getting healthy. Trying to do a few things a day around the house.
I had a dream last night I met kiefer Sutherland. At a bar no less. I have NO IDEA where that came from.
I hope you are all ok. Will check in at lunch time. Xoxo
PS where is K9?Day 1 again 11/5/19
Goal 1: 7 days :heartbeat:
Goal 2: 14 days :happy2:
Goal 3: 21 days :happy2:
11/27/19: messed up but back on track

One day at a time.

Good Morning, Friends!
A quick check-in for me again...working 10 hr. days on-site with a new client through Wednesday.
Nursie-:hug:CONGRATULATIONS on fighting off those cravings this weekend. GOOD FOR YOU! Can your doc put you on meds for Depression? After all you've been through with your cancer and treatments, I would think you could really use some relief. So glad you found a comfortable AA meeting and you are looking for a sponsor. Positive steps for you....that is fantastic.
K9 popped in here about a month or so ago. She is very happy, married to a guy at her company and not drinking. She found that the happiness she feels with her husband has replaced feelings for drinking. Sobriety has given her many gifts. K9's daughter is doing well, too, in a relationship with a nice guy. It's all good in her world.
Pauly and Mama-please check in!!!! We miss you!!
Liz-how are you holding up?
Nora-to answer your question-I was with my mom all weekend. She put on a brunch for 3 of her friends. I helped her with preparations and picking up her closest friend who lives about 45 minutes away. The brunch was a total success. Sobriety makes me a reliable person, someone my family can count on. Every time my sister tells me she couldn't take care of Mom without my help, it reinforces why I choose to be sober.
Aihfl-CONGRATULATIONS ON 210 DAYS SOBER!! So happy for you!!
Big hellos to Glassy, TMH, AG, and anyone I missed...happy Monday!

Rusty, thank you for the update on K9. I miss her around here. We share the exact same birthday, down to the year.
I'm off to see the psych doctor this morning and am looking forward to telling him I'm coming up on 7 months in a few days.
Hope everyone has a great day.First, a man takes a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes the man. --Chinese proverb

MAE everyone.
Nora, your DIL has that taste thing too? There are lots more female sommeliers than there used to be.
She will have to travel to France for level 3. I remember once boiling a couple of eggs to make egg salad And I took them from the pan and placed them on a cutting board for seconds and when I served the egg salad he told me there was garlic in it. There wasn't, but earlier I had chopped garlic on that board. I have lots of stories about his taste buds!
I have a small repair to the car to do today, but have a 30 minute drive to auto place and then will have to rent a car to get back.
Take care Pauly.
I read Starty's post on the daily thread today and she mentioned that the 3 P's has helped her realize that cravings were just a thought - very important. Back then I was a slave to my cravings and before my cravings were managed by diet, it was often relapse. I think that was a very important post today and will employ it to my worry self.
Have a great day everyone.Enlightened by MWO

Good evening everyone, the psych doctor was pleased with my ongoing sobriety. Everything that was questionable in my bloodwork is back to normal: liver enzymes, cholesterol and triglycerides, and Vitamin D.
Just finished a Middle Eastern dinner of falafel, hummus and tabouli. The tabouli and falafel mix came from Trader Joe's, but I always make my own hummus. Haven't found anything in a store I like I as well. We don't have a food forum anymore, so here goes:
1 15.5 oz can chick peas (save the water)
1 clove minced garlic
2 tablespoons tahini
2 teaspoons cumin
1.5 tablespoons lemon juice or juice from half a lemon
1 tablespoon olive oil
no more than 1/8 c. fresh parsley, salt and pepper to taste (I usually omit these)
Throw it all into a food processor and add the saved chickpea water as needed to make it creamy.
I got this recipe from a fellow Jewish friend who got the recipe when he was a musician in the Haifa Symphony in Israel.
Off to the yoga studio now - a great way to end the day.Last edited by aihfl; October 17, 2016, 06:02 PM.First, a man takes a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes the man. --Chinese proverb

That sounds delicious.
I'm so glad to hear Niner is doing well.
I was struggling again today with cravings (fast and hard and out of the blue). I came here and posted and with everyone's help, reading about the 3 principles, and using the tools I have been given this far, I did not drink.
I am feeling serene now and reading a good book before bed.
Much love and sober dust!Day 1 again 11/5/19
