Dear Beth--
I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. Lindsay, you and all who loved her are very much in my thoughts and prayers. Remember to treat each other gently as you go through this painful time together.

I would also like to very much recommend "Dying, A Book of Comfort" by Pat McNees. It is such a profoundly wise and comforting book that I know many people give it whenever someone they know is losing a loved one, including my friend who is a hospice chaplain.

Oh Beth,

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I am so very sorry. This is a loving parent's worst nightmare, and I imagine it is a loving aunt's worst nightmare as well. It is so hard to find words of comfort. I will say that I will be thinking of and praying for your family.

I am praying that all of you support Lindsay with your love, and then support each other afterwards. I pray that you will find comfort in small ways and that time will bring healing to you and to all of the family.

Of course, as Lindsay's mother, your sister will be recognized as deserving of great sympathy. I hope that you have people who know how much you adore her who will be there for YOU. And of course, you have us. We understand how much you love her.
