The truth is I doubt other folks would care either. I said a couple of months ago to a couple of people I was not drinking in response to them needing a drink at the end of a tough day. But they have all forgotten that and are asking if I am driving to the xmas do so I can drink! In reality most people dont really listen to what is being said and they aint interested I find And that suits me perfectly

oh how true -- as I get older I realise how little interest anyone much has for anybody else.. and like you I get dazed looks re. the driving to the Christmas party... mind you - they undaze quickly enough when they realise they have a lift home ;-)
right must go and catch up on the washing etc.. back to work tomorrow but it's only a couple of days this week so it'll be easy

Yes, people absolutely do not care. At some point last year that penny dropped.
Drinking made so paranoid, practically hiding the bottles down my trouser legs in the supermarket, trying to look sober when out, trying not to appear hung over in work, could they smell me, can they tell..
I had soup yesterday in work, the first time in years cos the last time I had it, I couldnt stop my hand shaking.. I can drink soup now IN PUBLIC, yay!
