Molls its awful to feel like that. Actually when it was happening I became very aware of how on-line 'heated debates' must be very difficult for younger people living in what is now, lets face ...........it an on-line world. I even had a chat with my doctor about it all and she said just to be myself and not engage. .............I know its very hard, love.

But we're stubborn auld donkeys and I'll be fecked if any one rocks my equilibrium for more than a day.

Like your thinking, Satz. Been trying to poke my head out of the Army a bit more. My first year here I was everywhere.

We're on European time............so that might be a good start.

Satz is right, you must not allow anyone to get under your skin. As you can see, the one who attacked you looks for disagreements with all that she engages with so that is proof that it is not you that is being attacked. To stay safe is simply not to engage at all with anyone dodgy and we all know who those are.

Here's my two pence: IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE these disturbed people, whom I believe are sociopaths. A guy I know who has been in sober for more than 30 years told me, "when you love someone or you hate someone, it takes up space in your brain, which they are getting for free, but when you are indifferent towards them, you are telling them you simply don't give a damn about them, and indifference is the biggest insult."

These messed up people also ENJOY pitting one person against the other, as they have done on this thread. Thank Dog we don't actually KNOW these people...can you imagine what they must be like when they are around their families? Their personal lives must be an absolute disaster.

Completely agree about being indifferent.
Todays mission, if you choose to accept it, is to think of title for the army in 2017.

Problem is incorporating everything we want to get across, in 1 short catchy title.
-Army - that stays
-Time zone - this would attract me, as a newbie - but open to everyone around the world obviously.
-New recruits welcome

Hiya folks happy new year as we fly over Paris on the way home.this airline has Internet and they let you use it..now 51 mins from Manchester ..about all the drama on the other Fredz. We all came here to get sober..most of us have either done that or doing. .we need to give support. . That is about helping...what worked for different people etc all pulling together. .not cut and pasting some Internet bumf..it's about help not fighting. slagging people's ideas off..it's real..people come for help not to read some pseudo political medical diatribe..there are a lot of good people on here who have been through the mill and can help...let's not drive them away

I love posting here,its just the time difference that gets in the way,usually when I'm getting up you are all off to work or starting your day,in the afternoon for me you're all hitting the leaba(see how I wedged that in) also sometimes when I read back by the time I want to comment the issue has passed so it seems weird to bring it up again, nothing we can do about time zones though, Mary,the name was cute I agree with the posts this morning especially Tabbers,obviously there's more going on in the trouble makers' minds than just addiction, I've wanted to point it out several times but Meh,not worth the effort but there's defo some screws loose regardless of drinks or drugs,I'm wishing everyone here a wonderful, safe NYE,you all mean a lot to me and are a great,funny,goofy,caring bunch,don't ever change that and please post what you feel,feck 'em if they don't like it

About renaming your thread, if I may make a few observations that I’ve had, and these are done in good spirit and friendship. When I first joined MWO, I really thought the thread was for veterans so I never bothered to even open it. I know you’ve all discussed that same fact and it’s really up to the newcomers to read around and understand what all the threads are about and see where they might fit in the best. I know on the forum that I was on that is officially closing at midnight, they called the different time zones/continents/countries Teams. Team 1 was North America, Team 5 was the UK, and I’m not sure what the other Teams were about, Asia, Australia, etc. Maybe that’s something we could incorporate on MWO?

The second thing is the different “languages”. Not so much language, but words and phrases that are unique to different countries/states/provinces etc. When I started reading the Army thread it was a bit confusing, but I also know that works the other way as well. Now, I enjoy coming over to read and see if I can make sense of the words and discussions, it’s actually quite fun for me. I’m not sure if I understand all the words, but I put my own definitions to them and then follow along to see if I was right. God forbid that I could be so humble as to just ask lol. It’s probably no different for y’all to understand the words I use eh!

Time zones can pose a problem if it’s immediate help someone is seeking, but for any normal post, it will get read when the thread followers get around to them. So, anyone can post anywhere and know that sooner or later that post will be read.

I think y’all are doing a great job over here and any newcomer can see where they’d be welcome to join in…. it just might be the name that is confusing as it was for me….

Hi there army. Well it's New Year's Day in New Zealand. Thought I would pitch in as the Army has become very multinational. I can usually understand the lingo as there are a lot of traces of the words here. And the theme is the same - against alcohol 's effect on our lives.
