Hilarious on the drunken office scrap! My party is Friday - I am very busy on Friday, not going to a party.
Nowt with a face Mary so no fish.

Have they given you a hard time for not going? I was very brave yesterday. Declined the go karting in Feb

Nice to here you all dealing with Christmas partys etc etc .

Christmas here is not as big as at home, actually its pretty quite around here, lots of lights & decorations up on the streets but at night there eerily quite.

          Morning,
Got my first Christmas party at work on Tuesday. Its at lunchtime in the office and with it being a D&A place bringing alcohol in is punishable by hanging and then the sack. We're all bringing a dish.

Mine hopefully will be White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake recipe - All recipes UK
It could be worse, I could be filing.

                  Morning folks.
Need o get out of this house today. Getting my Christmas 'do'.
MrS NEEDS to find himself something to do - he is driving me nuts. :egad:
He is always 'doing' but has run out of things to do.
I am different in that I love peace & quiet & reading etc.
I have College and study - suits me I'm lazy - and the gym - not a huge amount but it's something and I meet new people.
It's raining today and he's stuck in..... has no contingency if the weather is bad.
If the weather is good then he'll come up with some shaggin' plan that involves being out most of the day driving then ending up in a pub.

                  AAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH !!!

                  Rant over !

                    Hallo Army!!

Taking a wee break from the phones and e-mails to say HI! to all of you. Have read back a bit but not much time to read as much as I'd like to.

Mick - so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. Not ever easy to lose a loved one, but it seems especially hard during the holiday season. Hoping that you can dwell on happy memories and that will help ease the loss a bit.

Starty-pants - sorry to hear about the arthritis but as you will find out by reading and advice from others, much can be done by diet and the proper exercise. And HUGE congrats on over 100 days AF. At least the inflammatory effects of alcohol won't worsen your condition.

Molly, hope you enjoy the party. I luckily have no company party to go to since I AM the company. Don't know that I would like it much to be in a group of people that were over-indulging. Mostly, they all get silly or belligerent in the end. Then the terrible slurring of words happens and the falling down. Jaysus. So glad that is not part of my life anymore.

Satzy-bum - how are the Greek studies going? Have you learned some phrases, or just a lot about the history of the Greeks? Always loved mythology myself although that is only one part of the Greek history.

Mary - good for you on missing the party. No sense going somewhere that has nothing to offer us or where we feel less than comfortable.

Mario-man - where art thou? What country, I mean. Cool here in Athens today - a mere 4C when I was driving to work at 7 a.m. Has warmed up to 7C since the sun came out. :eek-new:

I saw KTABbers there somewhere - thought of you on Monday driving to work and listening to Adele on the radio.

Jackie - that cake looks so delicious and after reading the recipe, I know why. Might try one myself for Christmas Day.

News in Stirly-World is that fourth Grand-baby was born last week. A wee laddie for younger son and his wife. Darling child - just want to eat him up.

For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.
                    AF since 10/10/2015:yay:

Mr. Stirly has been retired (actually we retired him) since the middle of June. If I had to stay home with him instead of working full-time and then some, I'd have strangled him by now. Actually, about 5 months ago. Makes me mental on the weekends. Has the fecking TV on from 7:30 a.m. listing to a talk show where they discuss economics - basically about pensions and such - over an over again. Same conversation, different guest panel every weekend. Drives me nuts. So I can relate entirely to what you mean. Mr. Stirly has recently got himself a new Smart-phone which has kept him occupied for the last couple of weeks. Problem is he's got the thing in his hand all the time and asking me how to do this and that about 10 times a day. That on the weekends - weekdays I'm at work. Makes me want to shove it somewhere. No, I don't know why it won't charge, and no, I don't know where that icon on the screen went to, nor do I know where the new one came from. And I don't have time to show you how to connect with the internet specially since you haven't a clue about what it is and how it works. Now I've got to put in a laundry and clean the house and cook for 4 days so take yer fecking phone and yourself down to the local cafe and ask someone else for help. And stop calling my cell phone by mistake. You've done it already 3 times today. Smart phone my arse...

absolutely brill..I reckon if you asked most wives the same thing it would be the same answer...when I retired, thought for me it was crap...goodnight..but nope ..since then I have built walls redone gardens made thing sawn things ,polished sanded and stained things ,tiled walls ,painted things learned about smart phones computers ,cooking the whole lot...all these things were a requirement in life...but strangely enough every time you look in the "round tuit"drawer ..the fker has filled up again...and the trivia you learn is phenomenal...everything from the first postage stamps ever used in the pitcairn islands, to the toilet stops for a sparrow flying to Russia...as for the icons on the internet ..yep..whose nicked the recycle bin ,why wont this connect?..and you are in the middle of a shop and the phone in yer pocket is going ..hello hello...and yep its the light of your life...and you go..did you call me? all soundz so familiar
af since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

                            Evening from me.
Mr JC doesn't retire (barring a mahoosive lottery win) for another 9 and a bit years.

Congrats to Granny of 4, Stirly. Have to say I'm a bit like that with my phone. I'm going to be able to publish a large volume of photos of the bottom of my hand bag.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Ive a bit to go before we both retire, so I wont panic yet - Mr M cant wait to retire to peruse his 8 million hobbys, so will see, but he'd still be looking for his breakfast, dinner and tea! Think he's part Mr Satz, Mr Stirls, Mick and Joe. An interesting man!:happy2:

There is a young girl who cleans car windscreens outside the local shops. She and her friends are polite and cheerful and sometimes I give some change. She looks about 15.

Three weeks ago she asked me if I had a cigarette to spare (the first time she ever asked for anything I might add). I told her I didn't smoke any more and she said 'no worries' and went to walk away. I stopped her and explained that I had quit after smoking 2 packs a day for 40+ years and how I had smoked the cost of a house and how hard it was to quit and how I might still get cancer and die early from smoking.

I told her I hoped she quit now, then I gave her $5 and said to buy herself a treat. She promised she would try to quit, but that it was hard and she already quit smoking weed. So I said 'just do your best'.

Today I parked and she came running over, smiling from ear to ear. She said 'Miss I smoked for 3 days after you spoke to me but every time I lit a cigarette I thought of what you told me. So I quit, and I haven't smoked in two weeks!'

She was so very, very proud and I gave her a hug and she was totally smokefree. Then we chatted about her dream of working in hospitality and I told her to never let go of her dreams because if she was strong enough to quit smoking she could do anything!

When I got home I told my daughter and DIL what had happened and we all cried.....we ALL know the damage that addiction causes and how much this young girl's choice may mean.
Lovely story Kuya, a happy ending
