It is seriously frigid here today. Even bundled up well, it was cold out due to strong winds. We have had an unusually long cold spell this winter and this is the second time in 2 weeks that we've gotten snow. And from what the forecast says, we are due for more in another couple of days. On the island of Evoia which is across a stretch of sea from us, there is a village with two metres of snow. Good grief!!
Satz - I took a quick read back and saw your posts about young Satz. I'm truly sorry to hear that you and your family are going through this again. I can't say that I have any advice to offer since I've never personally had to deal with something like that although I have read articles from time to time about "tough love" and it always made sense to me. Hard as hell on the family, tho', I would imagine, and certainly something that it takes a lot of guts to do. The only thing I can say is - go with your instinct. You know your son - you know what is the best way to deal with him - each person had a different reaction to the actions of others. IMHO, the fact of his age is one of the difficult things he has to deal with plus the alcoholic's usual "fuck-it" attitude. Not an easy thing to try to battle when your friends are out partying and you want to join them. But we all know how alcohol can destroy our lives and if he can finally understand that he needs to get a handle on this NOW, then that will be half the battle. Wishing you strength. That's about all that I can offer. I imagine it will be bloody hard but you will know how best to deal with the situation. Stick with what your gut tells you no matter how hard it seems. I guess that is the best we can do as parents - do what we think is best for our kids, no matter if they think we are against them - it is what is best for them in the end.
Molly - hope you don't find it too difficult to deal with Joe's not working. I could not imagine being around Mr. Stirly 24/7 and that's why I took over the business when he stopped working. We would have strangled each other within a week at most....For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

Stirly - I'm lucky on two counts - 1# Joe was one of the 'new men' back in the day - he was the prime house husband when the kids were small and he did all the housework etc when most men didn't really do that sort of stuff and 2# I'm not here -- I'm working full-time -- so it's working okay -- I would love some just on my own time - but another few weeks when the days get longer and warmer he'll be back to big time walking which would be his hobby so should sort that out tooFor every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

Edited to add - am off to get a few things done and then to bed. Wishing you all a good night and pleasant dreams!Last edited by stirly-girly; January 8, 2017, 02:56 PM.For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

Evening, good to see you stirls.. can't believe the tempatures over there, will have to send you over a few woolly jumpers! Fast food places everywhere here too, it's ridiculous.
I get wanting to have time alone Molly.. I feel guilty just thinking that and I am so grateful for a heathy family, but a dream about 2 hours to myself.. on that note...AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Good morning Army!!
Woke up to frigid cold again today. No snow but a mere 2C in Stirly-World, then I drove to the store in the dark at 7 a.m. only to find that it was (still is) 3 degrees colder in this part of the city - temps at -1C when I arrived. Not even the air conditioner on heat is doing much today. The sun has come out but it is till very cold. Mind, I talked to my sister in Canada yesterday and it was -17C in the morning when she got up. Supposed to go down to -23C today. I'll take -1 for now.
Where's JC with a nice warm cuppa tea to warm us up from the inside out?
Wishing you all a great day!!!!For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.
