Ok Pauly, we're on! I won't be crying at the wedding. I didn't cry at mine or Erin's, just everyone elses:love: I bought my dress today! I wasn't really even actively looking. Just happened to see a dress i thought could work so I figured let me just try it on. Well, I really liked it. I made sure they had a refund policy in case CJ and/or hubby didn't like it. They loved it! Even Mark was like wow! It's champagne color, long and strapless with a little bit of a gather in the bodice. I am so excited! Dare I mention that it wasn't at all expensive? I also found a bunch of Christmas stuff on clearance. A good day indeed!
Pauly, thanks for the info on the hair. I found some updo s on Pinterest and will go for a trial at some point. No curls for me this time around.

Nora, I'm glad you posted. I'm sorry your all so sick. Wish I could send over some chicken soup for you guys! Hope the meds, fluids and rest do the trick!

I'm out early tomorrow so off to unwind a bit before bed

        Good Morning, Friends!

I am on my way home this afternoon but thought I would check in and say HELLOOOOOO!

To answer your questions, it was no colder here than at home, BUT, they have a couple of feet of snow and they don't plow the side roads....UGH! Apparently, the city ran out of money for snow plowing. So treacherous driving to my client's company every day.

Techie dear...you are so strong not to eat sweets, etc., but I pray this course of therapy works for you.

Nora-so sorry you and your family are sick. What a drag!!! Hope you all feel better really soon.

Liz-I think your hair would look adorable in an updo!!! You have great hair, and your MOB dress sounds smashing!

Pauly-what are you doing on your day off?

Big hellos to Red, Glassie, Nursie, and everyone I missed....happy AF Friday!!!!

          Hello all.

Rusty, I can't believe they ran out of money to plow side roads! That's just crazy. I'm sure you'll be thrilled to get out of there. Have a safe trip home!

Nora, how are you feeling today? How's everyone else feeling at your house?

Pauly, Louie was so cute eating the broccoli in the picture you posted! Good for him, eating healthy. Always a struggle for me with my little ones.

Super busy day at work today! A lot of really sick patients that needed a lot of extra help. I had 10,000 steps hours ago! I'm sure I will sleep good tonight. Erin came by tonight and had dinner with us. It was just the five of us tonight, just like it used to be and I loved it! We spent the evening online looking for bridesmaids dresses. It was a lovely evening all together:love:
Wishing you all a good night!

            Good morning all!

Nora, hope you all are feeling better.

Liz, have a great day at work. You have such an amazing year ahead of you. So much going on between becoming a grandma and having a wedding.

Pauly, are working today? Loved the picture of Louie!

Rusty, you ready for the game tomorrow? I hope they kick the cowboys butt!!

I am getting a computer for at home, finally! I will be able to actually write more here and more often. I just use my phone right now and it's a pain to write more than a couple of sentences.

Have a great sober weekend everyone!!
AL free since March 17th 2011...loving this life. No drinking no matter what.

Oh Nora, feel better! Did you guys go to the doctor? It sure sounds like the flu! My hubby isn't feeling well tonight either. He had the chills, nauseous and had a stuffy nose! Came on rather quickly. I am wondering if he caught my stomach virus? He is sleeping right now, thankfully!

Red, I look forward to you posting more here. We'd love to have you around more!

Rusty, hope you made it home ok. Had some snow here today. Really not too bad. Mark is spending the night at his friends house. The roads up there aren't great right now.

Watching the football game tonight and looking forward to more tomorrow! Love this time of year and settling in to watch these games!

Wishing you a peaceful AF night!

                  Good Morning, Friends!

Nora-I hope you and your family are on the mend.

Liz-were you thrilled the Patriots won? I used to be a HUGE Patriots fan, and since my mom's family is from Maine, they all cheer on the Pats. So glad CJ and hubs liked your dress. You will look beautiful in it. Of course, you look fantastic in everything you wear!

Red-Yes, I will be watching the game today. Are you having your family over for dinner like last week. Let me know what time and I'll be there. Hahahah!!!

Well, my morning began at 5:00 AM when I heard screaming downstairs. It turns out that two 20 something female friends of my neighbor's son tried to commit suicide by overdosing on Xanax and booze, of course. Fortunately, the ambulance came and the ladies have survived. I told my neighbors' friends that people (i included myself as an example) highly underestimate the depressant nature of alcohol. They were not aware of this. I know I am lucky to be alive...I really am. In my worst days of drinking, I awoke on the bathroom floor and other odd places many times. Often I was bruised and in pain. So glad those days are over.

Yesterday, I watched an excellent documentary on HBO called, "Risky Drinking." It chronicles the lives of a couple of heavy drinkers/alcoholics and the effects on their families. The doctor who is interviewed does an excellent job of explaining the nature of alcohol and why people drink.

I am reading an excellent book called "This Naked Mind Control Alcohol," by Annie Grace. It is outstanding, and written along the lines of Allen Carr's book, "The Easy Way to Quit Drinking." I got it on Amazon and it is a fantastic tool for people who want to quit, or aren't sure whether they want to...and I'm betting by the time you are done with this book, you won't want to ever drink again. I bought it because I have a whole stash of books on drinking and reading books like this gives me positive reinforcement that the AF life is the way to go.

A big shout out to Pauly, Nursie, Glassie, Techie, Mr. G, Cowboy, and anyone I missed...happy AF Sunday!!!

Hey guys! Enjoyable Sunday here. Thankfully hubby is feeling better! Went into work briefly and had Mark help me with an excel spread sheet that needed formulas? Tough trying to teach an old lady new tricks. It was actually fun though. We watched "The Girl on the Train" this afternoon. The fact that she was a problem drinker was a bit awkward for me but it ended up being a good movie. Erin came npby this evening to walk on the treadmill and she's not feeling great. Still having issues with tummy troubles. It's gotta get better soon, I hope.
Yes I have been enjoying watching football! One more game in a few! Yes I am glad the patriots won! From here on in I will be almost too nervous to watch the Patriots play. It's just football, right?
Hello to Nora, Pauly, red, glassy, techie, Nursie, cowboy and anyone else I may have missed! Have a good night.
FYI, we were discussing names for the baby the other night and Erin says she loves the name Nora! Wouldn't that just be something?

Liz-so glad you had a great day. I like the name Nora, too!

                      Pauly-please check in.

Off to shower and then bedtime. It was a fabulous AF Sunday!:happy2:

Rusty, I could've sworn I commented on your post! I don't know what happened to it! That is awful about those two girls! I can't even imagine what that must've been like to see and hear. I hope they have learned their lesson. I have ended up with bruises that I had no idea where they came from. Scary stuff.
Perhaps I will read a book that reinforces my resolve to stay sober. I just really don't like to read anything too deep. I like to read something light and entertaining, something to take me away! Anyway, sorry again about my lost post !
                          Sweet dreams!

                            Good Morning, Friends!

I have the WHOLE WEEK OFF! Whoo Hoo!!! Yippee for those of you who are enjoying your long weekend, too. :-)

Liz-aw, you are so sweet! Please don't worry about not commenting on my post. I so get wanting to escape with a book that is light entertaining...so much better than drinking, right? One of my closest friends is a voracious reader. She can't drive because she has severe glaucoma, so she spends hours every day, just reading. I would go bonkers but she finds it so relaxing. When I look back at 2016 and how fast it went....I could kick myself for wasting all the Saturdays or Sundays the last two years of my drinking career. Social and truly moderate drinking for years turned into an escape for me...a way to avoid work-related tasks that I hated doing...and going to work with clients who were extremely hostile at times. I dreaded Monday mornings, so on Saturday or Sunday, I used to kid myself that buying a bottle of vodka or scotch and drinking the whole thing (many times) was my way of relaxing. Whom am I hurting, I thought? I live alone. I'm not bothering anybody. I frequently talk to an MWO member who has been sober for several years but doesn't post much anymore. She was saying that she didn't realize that she had made such poor financial decisions while she was drinking. I feel the same way...my drinking has come back to haunt me several times. OK, I will get off my soapbox now. LOL

Nursie:yay: So good to see you here!!! I have to look at the Roll Call to see what AF day you are on...I have lost count! How is your friend with breast cancer holding up? Did she have surgery and has she started chemo yet?

Pauly-what's up, girlfriend? You haven't posted here in a while.

Ok, off to say Hellloooooo to the Army!

A cheery hello to Nora, Red, MIA AG, TMH....the sexy Techie and Mr. G, Cowboy (I like Coyboy...sounds like Boy Toy) and anyone I missed...have a happy, healthy and productive AF Monday!!!
