I’m grateful that this week is coming to an end, it’s been a long, cold, physically demanding week, but I got through it!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Winter keeps hanging on here and it's so disheartening to see the landscape yet again covered with snow. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself yesterday when I saw a couple of Robins in the yard searching for something to eat. They don't whine and complain about the snow, (like me) but go about the business of surviving on a daily basis. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm so thankful that I'm not a Robin!

I’m grateful for my alcohol-based inks, that bring me vibrant colors on a gray cold day.

I am also grateful for buckwheat pancakes with maple syrup and local sausage, which we will enjoy today at a rustic restaurant only open two months of the year. Their maple syrup is made on the lower level of the restaurant building.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

              Good one, Jude!:welldone:

Mmm, buckwheat pancakes and maple syrup!

I'm grateful that I have a fair imagination. They say we should live in the Now. But with winter hanging on seemingly endlessy, I am growing impatient with the Now! So, for now, I'll imagine the warmth of the sun I've felt in the past and dream of feeling it again in the future!

Tonight I’m grateful that I had an angel sitting on my shoulder all the hundreds of thousand of miles that I drove charter bus for sports teams....

I'm grateful for the sight of the crescent moon early this morning well before the sun rise. It was beautiful.

Funny you asked that Satz, Bubba just asked me last night if I ever drank while driving or just before driving my bus. The answer is no, I never did. Many times driving, the passengers were drinking and celebrating and often times I was asked if I'd like a drink and I always refused. The friend that owned the bus company I drove for expected us to follow his rules, absolutely no drinking and driving, and the 2 hour rule. For every drink you have, you can't drive for a minimum of 2 hours. I even stuck to that rule! I was very careful to watch the clock and the amount I was consuming and took my responsibility seriously. I have no idea how I refrained, but I did. Probably the fact of endangering 56 lives scared me more than going without a drink.

As for the two driver's who were involved in this horrific accident, I don't know. But I would bet 99% against it. There's too many things going on around you all the time to have your senses and reaction time dulled by alcohol.

I'm grateful for the times that I did act responsible when I was still drinking, I just wish there would have been more of them.

It’s interesting how often we comment here on the weather and all things related to outdoors. We can’t control it at all, but we cherish it.

Today I’m grateful that the temperatures are now going to stay above freezing at night. I can gradually begin moving plants out, first into my sunny garage window. Also, my seeds started indoors on a heat mat are up. I have several plastic boxes of seeds sitting in that garage window. They will also sprout soon, when the temperatures are right.
