Re: Express your Gratitude

I'm grateful for a beautiful sunrise this morning.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

This morning I'm grateful that I've "grown up" so much these past couple of years...
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

I’m grateful for the busy- ness that brings meaning to my life in retirement.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Grateful for a beautiful day with my grandchildren. A nice hike in the woods with them, Mr. D and faithful dog, Tessa. Grateful to be sober.

I'm grateful for choice. I'm grateful I can choose not to burden myself with all the complications of alcohol. No up side to it for me anymore. Grateful for all the blessings in my life!

OMG, on the way to church this morning in the grey light of predawn I came upon an accident. A neighbor had swerved to avoid hitting a deer and instead plowed his truck into a huge old maple tree! I offered him a ride to his home so he could get settled and call the authorities. He was banged up but otherwise ok. I'm grateful he was ok, but what a mess it made of his truck! Deer mating season. Let's be careful out there!

Good to hear your neighbour is okay dill! I think there is more property damage and personal injury when we try to avoid hitting wildlife, but we all do it instinctively.

Just this morning I had to hit the brakes and slow right down to avoid hitting 3 moose that crossed the road in front of me!

I’m grateful for all the wildlife and domestic animals that share Mother Earth with us, we just have to remember to be careful and watch out for them as we drive.

We have hit four deer during our marriage, all while driving too/from work, all in November. Another benefit of retirement, I’m grateful that I don’t drive as much as I did while working.

I'm grateful for my vet. I just picked up my kitty from her spaying. She is woozy and disoriented and I hate that I can't explain it to her! But she will be much better in the morning.
I'm grateful to be clear headed.
Sunbeam that's really a lot of deer! I have only hit one and Mr. D has hit none. But it is just luck, I am sure. There are times that they just come out of nowhere! I am grateful not to have to be on the road every day going to and from work. That's a definite perk to retirement! My drive to work and between schools involved a lot narrow country roads with little or no shoulder at times. Very dangerous! Several were major truck routes, too. I was always afraid one of those semis would go left of center and crowd me off the road. Came close many times!

Thank you all. You do make a difference.

Ditto to what NoraC said!

I'm also grateful for the support I received from Mr. D when I told him I needed the alcohol out of the house entirely. He did not hesitate to oblige. He hasn't brought a drop in since. For a while he used to keep a bottle of Yukon Jack out in his wood shop "for medicinal purposes". I know that's often said for a laugh, but he truly only drank it when he had a sore throat or something coming on to help himself sleep. But, he doesn't even do that anymore. He didn't necessarily understand the "disease" but he saw the fallout of it and he was all in for helping me get and stay healthy. That's a gift I am grateful for.
