I'm grateful I was able to handle working out side in this high heat wave. As the heat makes me ill. I'm grateful for ice packs with velcro straps. The stamina to get things done.

I'm grateful for my life, it hasn't always been good, but if I died tomorrow, I'd die a happy man and that's what my dad always said, if you die happy, you've lived a good life...
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

abcowboy. I am of the belief that heaven and hell are here on earth right now, like NOW and its how you choose life decisions, would it not be different in heaven or hell? I don't believe in afterlife per say, because it gives excuses to screw up your life in the now. Yes if you die happy you did well!

I cook quite a variety of foods from around the world. Thai is one of my favorites. Especially Tom Yung Goon. Sushi is awesome and have all the tools to make it. Knives that would blow your mind. We are blessed here with global foods other than like eating a dog?!@# Pressure cookers are dangerous little devices (I fix appliances for a living, like serious stuff). They are fast but you have to plan and cannot stir. Take care and its cool that you are trying out new things! I don't own one personally for various reasons (freaking dangerous). I use individual induction cookers (tip china for cheap induction as it really sucks when the whole stove top is ruined by one burner) because buying an entire cook top costs a fortune to repair. My pots and pans are insanely high quality. Often cook outside to keep the temp down. An induction cooker does well with indoor cooking when it rains because its really only the pan that is hot Its the closest to gas you can get for temp control. The glass surface cools in like a minute. I use a mini oven for a lot of baked goods like pizza, because why heat that much space and the AC has to cope with it; or you do without AC and suffer. BBQ's (I'm a gas tech, so whatever its not that hard with a BBQ, actually I fix everything) are cool items during the good weather. Wrap in foil something like diced carrots so they are shaped like asparagus, asparagus, zucchini, mushrooms (what ever kind) a bit of oil. Put on the BBQ (yeah mine never runs out of fuel). We have spice stores AKA the bulkbarn so seasoning isn't a problem. I find myself cooking pre made pizza modded with ingredients like additional bacon and pickled peppers and mushrooms does well. What ever suits me at the moment. I spend quit a bit on food so I have anything at any time and a grocery store is 2 minutes drive away if I want something way off the wall. The thai and asian cooking is done with raw ingredients in a wok and done mostly during winter as its not compatible. I am a dutch man (damn gave that away). So I cook indo food also. Also some very cheap foods with kale and potatoes and sausage. Whatever comes to mind other than drinking.

Have fun with the pressure cooker and be careful. My dad is so cheap that I should get him one.

Darn for the last winter i learned how to cook on and in a large wood stove. EDIT it is so uncontrolled but I have laser and have temp probes, so I figured it out. Mind you it pissed me off learning it.

empyr3al, I used to be deathly afraid of the pressure cooker, but have been working my way out of that fear. I'm very careful using it. I was very conscious of the fact yesterday while making dinner, that I was sober and because of that, was able to try something new and to use a new tool that requires a responsible, sober user!

I'm grateful for your return, Wildflowers! I hope you stick around. You're welcome to dinner any time!

                    Grateful for another sober day.

Have had three bids from tree service CO's. All licensed, Ins, bonded. The one that came this AM is certified Arborists. He said tree thinning/wind proofing is no longer an accepted practice. Same honest Co.who came in 2014. They said our Lg Deodora's and Pines are healthy. I'm so very grateful for the honesty and integrity of this Co!!!.

As much as we love and care for our long term neighbors, they will have to live with the mess. Just like we do with other neighbors trees. This is PNW. No one is in immediate danger. No one can predict an act of God. This Arborist also explained the laws. I'll do a follow-up with Ins agent. It's been several years we've discussed. Hope laws are the same. Grateful money saved will go in Baby Bear's wedding bucket.. People coming today to buy items for sale. More for wedding to add to savings for this very special event.

idefineme it's so wonderful to see you!!!!.... How are you and Rosie? Hope well!.. Bet sweet Rosie is getting bigger and is full of shenagins. Someday... when new lap top arrives going to figure out how to post pics. Last time I tried they were sideways.

dill Thank you for the invite. I'm positive your a fantastic chef and hostess!...Wished I was in closer vacinity. I don't know much about pressure cookers. I gave my Nana's to my GF years ago. She has a farm and cans produce. Did you ever sell your boat? Hope your grandkids are enjoying summer and are helping you. Hope your able to get a break and go do something you enjoy, something peaceful. I plan on sticking around. Thank you so very much for your kind and warm spirit!... Really am so grateful for everyone's warmth and welcome at MWO!!!...

I spent a day way, sorry. A good friend was around. We did some cool stuff on the q. Good friend and the house is getting sold, so use what you can, guessing 330,000$ for something pretty simple. But worked hard on it and inspired some new renovations. Oddly it was the exact bbq I had with my (ex) wife so I knew how to control it.

                              Re: Express your Gratitude

dill. Because I worked on steam heating in the industrial cooking and dish industry, I can ID an herb in seconds, and got trained in a strange way. I also have books like encylopedias. I stay far away from things that can burn me instantly. Steam is crazy not to mention pressure. Mind you I love how its done and would only do it in a proper commercial kitchen with a hood. The known name is a cleveland stearmer (dog shit, but its an appliance). These are insane devices, and will blind you if you are stupid and look into one while its running, or while its running. The most complex devices are Rationals Combi steamers ($70000, yes seventy thousand) and Altoshaams and Cleveland Steamers. As a technical Gas Tech, I am allowed to touch a ton of stuff, the license allows a ton of stuff. If things go wrong its crazy. I will say gas is a little strange on a pool heater for example if it does not light all in a row if the pilot light is way over on the left and the first number of burners are plugged by spiders. (The same goes for BBQ's btw, so every spring use a piece of stringed wire wrangled and pull out the spider webs) I've seen someone blown out of a shed because of a pool heater. I will never ever make that mistake (saw it first year) Needless to say I know what to do. How to repair and do first aid. Its not freaking funny at all. Simple cooking equipment can kill you, a pressure cooker is not my thing for that reason. F that, but ballsy to try. The name implies what it does and if you look at it the other way, the damage it can do. Now I do fix microwaves and if you have not had training, please don't try. I've seen screwdrivers blown across a room, thankfully not hitting another person, so you have to trust your coworkers. Burnt to a crisp. Commercial micro's are 4000v (residential about 2600v) and the capacitor is higher often when there are multiples. Panasonic's in residential should not hurt you, known as inverrters, though heart arylthmia is freaky. Don't play unless you know wtf you are doing.

Have fun cooking! Be careful. From a commercial appliance tech with crazy tech and knowledge of how to cook because I have seen it all. 70$ CAD for a steak. I've fixed crazy stuff that makes a pressure cooker look like a joke. Be careful! So from a home tech perspective I don't trust anything. Good luck!

Fav's are cilantro, large leaf parsley diced or cut, green onion, rosemary, bunch more. But I've said to much. Here come the thunder storms again!

I'm grateful for my herb/perennial garden. empyr3al, This year I have sage, oregano, thyme, cilantro, parsley, lavender, rosemary, lemon balm, spearmint, st.john's wort, dill (of course), basil, tarragon and lovage. Also, bee balm, purple cone flower, yarrow and Russian sage.

Saw a really good movie the other day: Hidden Figures. It's uplifting and based on a true story. Anyone else see it?

Wildflowers, yes! We did finally sell our boat. I was so happy to see a young couple, just starting out, buy it. I hope they have years of enjoyment. Thank you for asking! I'm glad you got lucky with your tree situation!

Great to see you idefineme! I hope you stop by more often.

                                Grateful for another sober day.
