Re: Express your Gratitude
Grateful to be leaving on a week-long vacation. I am grateful that my husband and I are both retired, and both have income from pensions. My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Tonight I'm grateful for the quiet and peace of a country evening, watching the deer and listening to the coyotes. After a busy, hot day I'm not sure I'll be able to stay up late enough to watch the meteor showers, maybe tomorrow night...
Have a great holiday Sunbeam!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Re: Express your Gratitude
I'm grateful to be coming to the end of another beautiful and sober Saturday. abcowboy, I was hearing an awful lot of noise from coyotes the other night. It seems there are certain times of the year that they are more noisy. I know they are always "out there" but I don't often hear them. I do love to hear them, as I love to hear all the night sounds, but only from the safety of the front porch or the deck! LOLDill

Re: Express your Gratitude
I'm grateful for a six mile hike. Grateful for relatively low pain in my ankles and feet. Grateful to spread our beloved Lab (Cody Bear's ashes). It was a good sober day.
dill Prefer hearing wildlife from a deck too!... There are Coyete dens in the cities now. Tho, have never heard any. We left late and thought I heard something close to the river in bushes. Last year we hiked at a park within city limits and there was a warning sign of cougar sightings. :egad: Love animals, wildlife, but think it's a matter of time when a human gets attacked. We have an old law from the 70's (adopted from CA) not allowing hunters to use hounds. Think the law should be changed with limits. It's not just people building in their habitats. Cougars have become over populated. Hopefully, ODFW will reassess population and the safety of human interaction. They are illusive and beautiful creatures. Hope a resolution happens.
Read on another thread about mesquitos being more than a nuisance. We haven't had a big problem, but have been getting bit lately. Did anyone watch the some what recent document about them? It was informative and a bit s scary. Biologists say they are the deadliest of diseases humans will face. With 3,500 species. Think there are four major current diseases/viruses now. Their on the move. Scientists believe it's just a matter of time before it/they invade Canada.

Re: Express your Gratitude
Wildflowers, I'm glad your ashes scattering brought you peace. I have had many dogs over the years. I wish dogs had a longer life span! When our last two died I swore I would never get another. It's so sad when they die and of course they make travelling a bit more complicated, and they can be a lot of work and expense. But it wasn't long before I found myself at the animal shelter picking out our lab/cane corso mix, Tessa! I am grateful for the joy pets bring to our lives, for the daily enjoyment of watching them and sitting with them, petting them, loving them and talking to them. Tessa is a good friend to the grandchildren. She is so patient and loving.
I found it very interesting that your cougar population is on the rise. I recently read an article that Bengal tigers in Nepal, once an endangered species, are now overpopulated and humans are being mauled by them in recent years. As for mosquitos, they have always been a nuisance here in Ohio! We have to spray ourselves with bug repellent whenever we go in the woods or even when sit on the deck in the evening.
Grateful for the dogs I have had over the years, and for Tessa now.Last edited by dill; August 13, 2017, 05:52 AM.Dill

Re: Express your Gratitude
I'm grateful to be sober today.
dill-thank you!.. I'm happy for you and Tessa. Love how she is gentle with your grandchildren. Chose to not go through with owning dogs again. My lab was my best friend! I guess I shouldn't say never again. If I found myself moving to the countryside, I wouldn't want to not own a dog. Ended up rescuing a cat and then one more to keep him company, while were away. The cat owns us. :cat: Both cats and dogs have their own uniqueness. Have found I don't bond to cats as deeply as dogs. Probably from their independence. After the cats cross the Rainbow Bridge. Doubt, I'll ever adopt another pet. Maybe one day I'll have a grand pet. I'm glad I never adopted a parrot. Almost did one time. I to have read and watched a documentary on the Bengals in Nepal. Scary!... :eeks:
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

Tonight I'm grateful that being sober doesn't always make life easier, but it sure makes it simpler...
