I'm grateful for everyone sharing their gratitude. I'm grateful for a long sober day.

Grateful, that I most likely will sleep good tonight. Hope you all do to. :fairy:

I'm grateful to go deeper into the meaning of grace. Learning and accepting this beautiful gift of grace and offering it to others, including myself. :heartthumbs: Grateful for the last three days I don't have to wear my hair up in a bun.

I like that about Grace, Wildflowers.

I'm grateful this morning to feel half normal. Gaining strength each day.

I do not at all understand the mystery of grace - only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.

I'm grateful my daughter and grandson arrived last evening after a 2 day drive. They are on an end of summer road/camping trip and are here with us for 3 nights. They plan to camp somewhere close to ground zero for the eclipse viewing this coming week on their way back toward home.

Dill, I also enjoy Anne Lamott. She is so heartfelt, and struggles like us.

Finally home after a trying and exhausting day, supper over, dishes washed, and just sat down on the deck to relax a bit. I was struggling a bit to come up with something to be grateful for and then it dawned on me, I'm grateful that this day is over lol, I made it through okay.

Hi all,

I'm new to this thread and I'd like to start practicing gratitude.

I'm grateful that I have a comfortable home with teenagers and furry friends in it.

Re: Express your Gratitude

Grateful for the book: Birds of Oregon. A field guide.

A Chickadee chose to plant and lay eggs in my hanging basket. I had a choice to not water basket, let flowers perish, or let new lives be born. I pondered over my choices. What would be the best decision? I thought the flowers will go to seed, possibly growing new flowers and provide bird seed.

Then a couple weeks later, I'd forgotten about the new lives being born. Was in a hurry and watered the flower basket. One little baby bird dropped to the ground. I was horrified with self for not remembering. How could I do such a thing. The parents flew into the tree with distress calls. I watched the poor little thing crawl into the wild violets. Noticing it had feathers and hoped it would fly. I knew not to pick it up and try and return it to its nest. I'm grateful that this little Chickadee was mature enough to fly away. I forgave myself for such a careless mistake. One that endangered the life of another living creature.

This reminds me of my struggles with poisonous/ethanol. If I'd just stop and think more. Pause when agitated and think about all the negative consequences of drinking. How time is a gift. A present. One that I shouldn't take for granted. Being present requires awareness, practice, patience, humility maturity, self love, forgiveness and support from others. It requires a clear and conscious mind. None of this is obtainable or long lasting without desire, surrendering. Knowing deep down and on the surface, I'm not able to control my intake of alcohol. Grateful time and trials have made me stronger. The pain of many falls has helped me to have a deeper desire to fly far and fast from the dangerous effects of alcohol. Grateful I can do this ODAAT. :triumphant:

Thank God there are only 24 hours in a day. I only need to be sober today. ~Wildflowers
I latched on to that little gem from your café ramble, Wildflowers. Thank you for that and all the other thoughts. I am very grateful for the strength to make it for the past 24 hours.
