Grateful for the smell of cinnamon filling the kitchen today. I came across an old recipe for cinnamon Christmas ornaments. Easy and fun to make and smell so delightful! I'll be making these again with my grandkids so they can give them as Christmas gifts.

I’m grateful for time I get to spend with my son. I wish my daughters were closer so that I could have the same quality time with them. The good news, all the kids will be home for Christmas!!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. dill, I just ran across a recipe for ginger snaps. I’ll be baking them tomorrow, to take to my choral group rehearsal. Ah, the fragrance!Last edited by Sunbeam; November 27, 2017, 01:23 PM.My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. Grateful for a wonderful group study tonight. Something I would never have done drinking; now I want more. Sobriety promotes growth. :love:Mary Lou

Re: Express your Gratitude
What a gift today was! So sunny and warm! And a gift to be sober to enjoy each moment of the light from sunrise to sunset! And thank you Sunbeam for mentioning ginger snaps. You know, I have never baked them in my whole life, so I say, no time like the present! As soon as I get to the store and buy molasses that is!Dill

Tonight I'm grateful for all the memories my older brother and I made together. It was 7 years ago today that he left us in body, but his spirit will always be in our minds and hearts.....

Re: Express your Gratitude
Last night as I was preparing supper, I had a HUGE surge of desire for "just one glass of wine." (I did resist) I've seen more than one post here where others had the same cravings as they prepared a meal. In the past I really enjoyed sipping wine as I cooked and I really missed that first glass. Problem was, as most of you are aware of, one glass turns into many. Somewhere in the middle of the cooking process, I would run out of ambition, patience and the ability to concentrate on what I was doing. Lots of interesting (and inedible) meals were cooked in my drinking days. :egad: Anyway, I am grateful that I am now a sober chef, and no longer in danger of poisoning anyone! (The hubby is REALLY grateful)

Re: Express your Gratitude
Well done to you, Jude58! I used to sip and cook, too. It took me a long time to get comfortable cooking without wine. In the early days I had to make a lot of crock pot meals and eat out a lot because cooking was too much of a trigger for me!
Your post in remembrance of your brother touched me, abcowboy and caused me to remember my own two brothers who have passed away. They have been gone for 10 years and 11 years but for some reason throughout the day today so many memories flooded my mind and heart. I miss them but am grateful that I was blessed to have my brothers. Each were special to me in their own unique ways. I hope your memories of your big brother bring you comfort.Last edited by dill; November 30, 2017, 06:03 AM.Dill

Hmmm, I don't think I ever had a glass of wine while cooking, but a 15 pack of Budweiser was definitely enjoyed while cooking!
I'm grateful that I can enjoy everything now without drinking...

I’m grateful that my moose wasn’t ready for picking up yet as our chest deep freeze packed it in! We only lost some ice cream, frozen yogurt, and a few packages of hamburger.
