    Re: Express your Gratitude

Tonight I am grateful for the candles and Christmas lights that help ease the difficulty of facing these long, long hours of darkness each morning and evening as we head into the beginning of winter.

I’m grateful for all the birch firewood that Adam and I bucked up after the beavers chewed down the trees. It’s going to make for some beautiful fires in the fireplace when all the kids are home at Christmas.

Tonight I am grateful for the 2018 calendar given out at our local hardware store. Beautiful nature scenes and some nice quotes, maybe some will make their way onto the Café thread! LOL!

Today I'm grateful for waking up with a clear head.....simple as that.

Ah Jude, it really is the simple things in life that can change our outlook! Things like a clear mind, a Community Calendar, or even the beauty in 4" of fresh snow making everything look clean!

I'm grateful for the beautiful weather we've been having! I got to grill fresh moose steaks on the smoker last night for supper!

              Re: Express your Gratitude

I can't believe how much my outlook on life has improved since I dumped the booze. It's truly amazing, and I really love my life as it is now. I'm even getting into the Christmas spirit this year, and it's been a long time since that has happened. One simple change in my life has brought out so many facets of my personality, the good parts of me that were buried in hopelessness and fear. I used to have recurring nightmares that someone evil was chasing me and trying to kill me, or sometimes I would be aboard a plane that was plummeting towards the ground. I did some research on what those dreams might mean, and found that it often indicated that one had unresolved issues, with little control over their life. Since I quit drinking, I have not had any nightmares whatsoever.....no surprises there! Yes, Cowboy.....keeping it simple is the way to go! Have a great night all!

Tonight I am grateful for a good day shared with a friend. We did a craft activity together breaking into a new area together! It was simple, but fun, putting together a garden mosaic stepping stone. It was a kit given to me by Mr. D.. I had never done a kit like that before and I wanted a friend along to explore it with me. We both had fun and learned something new. And we did it with clear heads and hearts!

I'm grateful Jude that you shared your feelings of joy here. They are positively contagious!

Dill, I will also be joining a friend for some crafts this winter. She is a new friend, a neighbor who moved in recently. She also wants to try a stepping stone! I have a box of materials for some paper flowers. We are both busy with seasonal stuff right now, but after Christmas we will do this.

Grateful for a new friend, and to be able to resume dog walks through snowy fields. This is a good work out, keeps me much warmer than walking on streets and sidewalks.

Jude, glad to have you here. Life will continue to get better and better, there are so many layers.

My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

The spirit of gratitude here is contagious! Just reading the posts reminds me that we have so many different things to be grateful for. And I’m grateful to be able to read them all in the evening before I go to bed. It fills me with a great feeling of contentment and peace...

Tonight I am grateful to be spending time with my young grandchildren. I am grateful that they enjoy coming here and staying the night with us quite often. They keep us busy!

Wrapping Christmas presents and listening to Eric Clapton unplugged. Just a few short months ago I would have been totally soused at this time of day on a Sunday. So glad that I'm not....... life is good.

Today I'm grateful that with only one week to Christmas that I have none of that terrible anxiety of 'having' to go out and 'enjoy' myself.
In Ireland the bars are heaving this week with people 'enjoying' themselves......
My mantra is 'no grub' 'no Satz' ..... I will go for a nice meal where others can drink if they wish but it's home on my terms as I'll be driving ....... :haha:
Some say it's age - but I say it's just sheer contentment in my own skin these days.

My days of just going out boozing are long gone and in fact I feel sorry for those who still feel they have to do it.
