Re: Express your Gratitude

I am grateful that I just happened to look out the window this morning as the brilliant sunrise was breaking. It caught me by surprise and such an awesome one! Grateful for another af day and temps forecast to be in the 60's! It will be a wonderful day to be outdoors with the grandkids!

I am grateful that I can attend church with my mother today. Her move to an assisted-living facility, although emotionally difficult for her and for all of us, has brought us closer together. My faith has been renewed and I have a tremendous sense of peace I haven't felt in a very long time. A cheery hello to my dear friend, dill! HI DILL!!!:heartbeat:

I am grateful that I have no desire to drink at all. I was given a nice bottle of wine as a gift for giving a garden talk today. I accepted it with gratitude, as all gifts should be received. I put it on the kitchen counter at home for my husband to enjoy whenever he likes. The end.

My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Hi back to you, Rusty! I'm glad the transition you went thru with your mother was helped by your faith. I'm also glad that with help from her children that she navigated those waters safely and successfully. On another subject, did you know that Imus retired in March?

Today I am grateful for the time we had yesterday with our grandchildren. The weather was nice enough that we were able to get out our little paddleboat and have a ride around the pond. :happy2:

Re: Express your Gratitude

Today I am grateful that here in Wisconsin, we are FINALLY getting sunshine and warmer weather, along with feeling extremely grateful that my business outlived my drinking career. I am grateful for clients who I am sure knew I was drinking heavily, as I walked into their offices on Monday mornings... hungover, face bloated, and eyes toward the floor. I was so not at my best. Once I got sober and stayed sober, I felt I needed to apologize and make amends, without admitting to my horrific drinking problem. I wrote them personal notes and told them that I had gone through "a particularly rough patch that knocked me off my feet and I appreciated them so much for staying with me during that time." They were so gracious and the notes were well-received. They rewarded me with more business. ;-)
dill-your day with your grandchildren, taking the paddle boat out on the pond, sounds wonderfully relaxing. Wow, I didn't know Imus retired. Are Sid, Bernie and Charles still there? I think he was battling cancer last year. Good for him for stepping down. :-)

I’m grateful that Gertrude and Gus made it safely back from down south. Gertrude is busy building her nest on the island to lay her eggs. Still waiting for Harry and Harriet to arrive...

Re: Express your Gratitude

Today I am grateful for "the list". Simple technique of putting things that need to be done on a list and crossing them off when accomplished. It's such a simple step but it keeps me focused and moving forward! My son, who has had many challenges in his life as some of you may know (addiction being one of them), is doing really well at the moment. Funnily enough, when I was talking with him about it he mentioned a daily practice he does in the morning, similar to Guitarista, part of which is ....making a list. :happy2: I had to chuckle to myself. I'd been on him to do that for years! LOL But it was in one ear and out the other. Human nature. We are not ready till we're ready, eh?

Rusty, I listened to the final show where Imus said goodbye. It was bittersweet. Funny how he connected with his listeners in such a personal way and yet was such a knuckle head! LOL! He was just so real tho, kind of like an Everyman. I also was fond of him because I learned of him thru my Mom who passed away in 2004, and listening to him was one way to maintain a connection to her, if that makes any sense. Anyway, he passed the baton of his morning show to Bernie and Sid. Charles retired a few years ago and never appeared on the show again after that, not even as a guest. I think he is living in Florida.

Imus in the Morning was a morning talk radio show broadcast on 77wabc in New York.

I’m grateful for a beautiful Friday afternoon, spending it outside playing Frisbee with Hank as I power rake the back grass, instead of being in someone’s shop getting falling-down drunk!

I went out to a bar/restaurant for dinner Friday night with some friends. This particular establishment is in the heart of what is known as Tipperary Hill on the west side of Syracuse. It is well know for it's abundance of alcohol and good food. Anyway, my friends had all ordered beers and were having a great time, as were the people at the bar. I was sorely tempted to join in with them, but am sooo grateful that I had the strength to say no.
satz123 what a gorgeous pic.....love it! Reminds me a little of coastal Maine, absolutely stunning!
