Re: Join the Army Agarinst Alcohol ..............Mad March 2017
Morning all. Chugging away Mary, taking it one day at a time. Nothing major on the last few weeks so that helps, also nice weather last few days gives one a boost. Spent ages outside yesterday, pulling weeds but it was lovely to be out.

Re: Join the Army Agarinst Alcohol ..............Mad March 2017
Hi
I won't know the results of the scan for a few weeks. I don't think it's anything for me to be concerned about they are just trying to eliminate something. But what a weird experience. Your lying on a stretcher/bed with your head in an air-filled pillow to keep it in position and earplugs in, and headphones on to reduce the noise. Then the bed moves back into the scanner and they have a periscope type of mirror so you can see forwards. All I could see was the window to the operators room ahead and for some reason that window has a set of curtains each side.....it felt like I was on the crematorium belt.... and then they talk to you through the headphones....like the voice of God!!!!
I do NOT recommend this as a fun day out!

Now, in the old days, we'd be planning to hit the pub and get pissed. Thank feck those days are gone.
Tomorrow there is a dodgy local St Patrick's Day Parade - I have a mosey down to that..... and relish my sobriety !!

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone. Enjoy the parade Mary and anyone else who is going. Have to say don't miss it (empty nest). Been there done that and no inclination to continue. Scan does not sound like fun either Tony, hope it all goes ok for you. Might try and get long walk in but weather seems to have changed. Still in decluttering mode so plenty to keep me occupied. Catch you all later

Re: Join the Army Agarinst Alcohol ..............Mad March 2017
Good morning folks, especially those of you with a little green in their blood today.
So its been a bit of a rough week for me, started out in a funk for no particular reason on Monday and it just got worse through the week, screwed up my thinking a bit. Never any danger of my picking up a drink I don't think, but not impossible to rule out, really not nice not to feel 100% in control though. Letting a few little things build up into something bigger isn't healthy especially for those of us so used to only one way of dealing with it, diving into a bottle. Anyway happy St Patrick's day all, I am off to the beach with the puppy, tis only raining lightly.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Re: Join the Army Agarinst Alcohol ..............Mad March 2017
Morning/afternoon, y'all.
I'm lurking. And learning how to speak English, apparently. (Craic? How is that pronounced?)
Had to read back to get the gist of Mr. G. Glad to hear he's doing well, and a shout out to him. He's been here longer than Gawd, just like me and some of youse.
Can defo relate to the hierarchy in rehab. Where I went, there were two programs. One for "professionals" and then the rest of the peeps. Who looked up/down on the professionals, who looked down on the rest of the peeps. Such a waste of energy.
Love the sense(s) of humo(u)r.
