Satz that all you can do, Is take it at one day at a time, Re your son, Sure what can you do but softly slowly keep reminding him of how good his life was when he was stopped drinking, Don't nag at him to much, Is there anyone out there who can talk to him that he looks up to, someone that would understand what were going through here ?

He's been to Rutland outpatient. Now he's having 1:1 with a councellor .......
He rarely get more than 2/3 weeks AF.
Says he "kinda gets bored"
If you were here you could talk to him But Molls / JAcks have offered over the last 2 years and he hasn't taken that on board.
He is a shy - deep thinking individual and uses alcohol to help cope ...... but I'm done.
He is about to lose, girlfriend , house , job ...... just to have a glass of wine.
What is this MADNESS we all have ?

Good morning army, it's been drama but just been dealing one issue at a time. Frankly - I almost can't believe I'm still here and sober! Now I also know I used it to try and cope - which is idiotic because it made me completely unable to cope! But it did dull the pain and hurt. Now I'm sober guess what? I'm learning to stop being a victim and standing up! Who knew? We're a lot stronger than we think. Satz - sending hugs. Have a sober Sunday everyone. Bless.

Satz, had dinner with some lovely friends last night. We had a craic. (?) It was a craic. We had a craicin’ good time! How’m I doing with my new Irish?
Sorry about your mum and your son. Very stressful. I agree with others, and hope you’re doing you first.
Molly, I’m not quite so Ameri-centric that I don’t know a little about European history. Though, gods, why did those classes have to be so boring? The British government has had a way with messing with other peeps for forever. Now it’s time for the U.S. to do it apparently. :-/
Abc, that is very funny. But I’m not actually Irish, so…
Starty, I’m itching to get another dog, and Mr. Ne is adamantly opposed. I’m hoping I just happen upon one. It wouldn’t be the first time!
Ardgillan is a castle? Looked it up. That’s what wiki said… Looks lovely, and sounds like you had a lovely day.
I’ve never done anything for St. Patrick’s day that didn’t involve getting drunk first and staying drunk, so now I don’t do anything. Don’t miss it, I have to say. Though perhaps a real parade, like the one in New York City, would be worth standing in a crowd all day. Not sure. As someone said on a different thread, it's a day for drunken amateurs... :egad:
What’s the deal with orange vs. green? It came up elsewhere and I haven’t bothered to look it up.
Going to sink into a book with a cuppa joe for a while until Ed gets up. Laters!

He is 100% better than this time last year when he was on the verge of losing everything.
Now he is open when he relapses instead of lying and denying it.
So I look on that as positive change.
I take strength from the recent changes, in Tabbs for instance, and hope he gets there sooner rather than later.

Cross posted with a bunch of people.
Satz, it is literally a madness. So sorry. Must be very painful to witness.
EDIT to say that every time trying brings new hope and better chances. It's AMAZING that he's not in denial and not denying. A huge step. Positive thoughts going his way...

Hang in there satz! As parent's we never give up on our kids, we love them through everything! And we keep praying that one day he'll get his "click" Sometimes that's all we can do...Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.
