Liz - good luck this week. Are you feeling a little self conscious about seeing your coworkers? I made a fool out of myself once with coworkers and my BOSS. The Monday I went in and looked him in the eye and said all I remember is saying I love you over and over. We both laughed and that was that. I wish that had been the last time I drank."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2017
I'm in the midst of a group chat with 10 relatives. We're planning a get together. My cousin just mentioned fireball shots. I wrote a smilie face and too bad I don't drink anymore. And then changed to long time since we've been together. Nobody has written anything since. Maybe talking amongst themselves. Oh well, I'm glad it's already out there"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2017
Hi all - Uneventful day here as well. I'm with you though Liz, its a good thing. Wow, you work a lot of hours! I do some days as well but not every day. Hey, I just wanted to let you know that you are such an inspiration to me. You are doing so well, I'm proud of you for standing your ground and staying healthy despite your sister. This is about you, not her day. Onward!
I'm all bound up about looking for another job. I just need a change and I think it will help with a lot of things, sobriety included. I have only interviewed outside of my current organization once in about 10 years, yikes! Its a lot of work just to update the resume, apparently they have changed their formatting over the last few years. Who knew?!! Hubs is cautiously supportive, he gets real anxious over finances and likes to keep things the same. I've never been much for that, this is the longest job I've ever had.
Mr V, you are inspiring me to exercise! How did it go today? I'm right there with you on the 25lbs. I really thought some of it would melt away by not taking in all those AL calories, wrong! I'm still getting the cravings for sweets, especially ice cream.
My first 45 was "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison. I'm still kind of a folkie at heart.
Let's all make tomorrow a good AF day!

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2017
Another sunny morning here, makes me feel good.
AG, I did get the bike ride in, 16 miles, felt like 50, lol. and I might try again today, I have the time.
Pauly you're right about the exercise making us feel better. And I also had to use the thought of not drinking after the ride, because it would negate all the positives of working out.
Took the dog for a walk instead, that did the trick.
Stay well everyone
Mr V

Morning friends,Mr.V sounds like a nice ride what kind of dog do you have?AG,good luck on the job hunt, sometimes we just need a change I think,Nora, fireball shots sound gag-worthy,I felt my acid reflux kick in just reading that haha, yesterday at work they were talking about a get together they all had at one of the coworkers house on Sunday, tequila shots and beer was the whole conversation, I dont know if it was brought up to make me and my coworker friend jealous that we weren't invited or what, they all know I've quit drinking and I see them enough at work as it is,,in fact too much that in the past when I have been invited I never go anyways and I sure wouldn't go now, wasting a Sunday afternoon drinking sounds gross,Liz,I want the new Galaxy 8(if it doesn't explode haha) but I just got this phone in Nov and I like to use 'em til they drop waves to Rusty,Glassy,Techie wishing us all a happy, healthy AF TuesdayI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:
I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2017
Rusty - I've been thinking about you. Hope everything is going well.
AG - Hope things go well with looking for a different job. I've been at my job for 39 years. It never seemed the right time to move on.
Liz - I hope that everything went ok at work today. I was thinking about you.
Has anyone heard from SK? Glad that Techie checked in.
Mom woke up & sat up about 2:30 this morning and looked towards my side of the bed and said 'Nick (my hubby) it's time to get moving. We've got to go." I had a hard time convincing her that we weren't going to go anywhere.
Hope that everyone is doing fantastic today! Happy AF Tuesday"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: One Step at a Time - April 2017
Good Evening Friends,
My class is going well, I am learning A LOT, and I am meeting some wonderful people. Only two more days.
Nora-Abbie is sooo cute! She just looks so cuddly. I love cuddly lap dogs and great big long, haired dogs, too. :-) I wish desperately that I could have a dog but I have no time to care for one. :-(
Liz:hug:I dropped my phone in the toilet in the women's restroom of my client's company a little over a year ago. It slid out of my pocket. I got one of those Life Product protectors for Iphone after that. I was so embarrassed to tell my young, smart, female client that I dropped my phone in the toilet and could she please print out directions to the nearest Apple Store. LOL. NOT.
Please tell us about the work party. Did you say or do things you regretted? How did your sister know you drank? Did your husband tattle on you? I know he has done that before and it really hurt you. When the time is right, and the two of you are along, I would just say to her, "why did MY drinking ruin YOUR day??? You had NOTHING to do with that party. I would just like to understand where you are coming from because I feel this wedge between us will never end."
Mr.V-wonderful to see you and I am thrilled for you that you replaced drinking with exercise. It really does help...and I ALWAYS felt SO good when I chose to exercise after work rather than drink. I don't know why I couldn't convince my brain for the longest time. Finally it clicked. I loved the John Revolta comment! LOL. 16 MILES on a bike...Oh wow, you must be really fit. How long did it take you to do that 16 miles??:yay:
Pauly-I'm with you...I HATE John Travolta's hair, but you can tell they pulled his scalp back because he's had A LOT of cosmetic surgery...yup, he's been nipped, tucked and plucked! Hahahahah!!!! So sorry you work with some real losers. They didn't ask you to their dumb party because you're wayyyy smarter than they are.
AG-I LOVED "My Sweet Lord." We had it on an album. I have the Bee Gees and Donna Summer on my Iphone...never tire of their music.
Hello lovely Techie! I hope you are feeling OK.:heartbeat:
NE-thank you for your wonderfully "newsy" post. So good to catch up with you. Did you finish all your outdoor work?
Well, friends, I think it's time for shower and a bed.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night.Last edited by Rusty; April 25, 2017, 09:50 PM.
