Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-May 2017
late checkin..
Glad to see the long termers mentioning an occasional yearn for Al (Satz the other day and sunbean on the shoutout).. makes me feel normal.:nutso:
The good weather and eating outside would have me finishing a second bottle by now and eyeing up 'one' glass in the unopened bottle, hoping MrM cracks first, but he doesnt so I stress for 10 minutes, then sneak off to pour something stronger and pretend its 7up.
Then dreading the morning, the week, cos I know Im not going to change this week.
Its lovely not dreading every Monday.
Night night xxAF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-May 2017
Well.............nice bit of Paul Rodgers and some old Free numbers...........now tell why would some people pay £60 for a ticket and then spend half the night trying to film it on their phones and have stewards telling them to stop more than once...........me and my pal were dying for someone to be hauled out by their collar. It could have spoiled the evening..................but it didn't.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-May 2017
Morning Army,
Back from my wander down to England and the wedding. Thank you for all the support before hand. You know, it's a bit strange but I really didn't care about not drinking at the wedding, not at all. In fact the only time when I got a "yearn" as Mers says, was when, after a long day travelling, we finally got to the hotel on the Friday.... other than that I didn't miss Al at all. It was the first time in my entire adult life that I have ever been to a wedding and not had any alcohol whatsoever. There was no issue with it, no-one I knew batted an eyelid. There were a couple of really loud and stupid drunks at the end of the night but I didn't know them and was happy, for the first time ever, not to BE them!!!
I couldn't get on here because all I had with my was my IPhone and I could get on FB because there's a button for that! (and thanks to those of you who put comments on there, by the way and to JC) But apparently, according to my nephew, I could create a button for any site so I could have had one for MWO - a bit over my head, but I'll look into it for next time I'm away.
Some great chats over the weekend on here. I've had a read back.
For me it's an "onwards and upwards" day today as it's day 108 which equals my personal best so every day forward from here will be a new PB. I'm still VERY much ODAAT but setting my sights on 6 months (180 days or 182 or 183...however you look at it!).

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-May 2017
Well that quick nip down the high street turned into a blinking marathon. Late buses, late metros, long queues........and its blooming freezing...........gripe over.
tonyniceday...........yep all armoured up for the wedding and forget the hotel arrival routine...........same thing here........we always used to take a couple of bottles with us (usually gin and some tonics) because we weren't paying 'hotel' prices. Thing we do now ............ get more tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits.
IamMary...........like our Molls says it fades and fade it does. I'm no longer resentful of those who enjoy a drink, that has come with time and because we have stopped drinking we have given ourselves that time............At the gig last night I danced, I sang, I laughed and thoroughly enjoyed myself and I didn't miss half of it because I was queuing for the ladies because I was full of booze.
Mind you my back aches, my legs ache, my arms ache.........but I'd do it all again tonight.:love:It could be worse, I could be filing.

He's out now in the graden - radio blaring- and I'm supposed to bring lappy out to finish an assignment. Dope !!
Went to Co Wicklow yesterday and ate here - at this pub / restaurant - fresh scallops and sea bass - t'was delish. Have to say Ireland has some of the best food.......
