Sprained my left wrist and now sporting a lovely elastic bandage.........such a fashion accessory these days.

Ice Pack - Viking Style. Will be your new temporary BF. They offer flower ones to. Thought you might enjoy Viking style. I like both. The season finale was ghastly.

Feel better soon. It was a lovely day out west this side of the pond.

JackieClaire So glad your wrist is better and it wasn't serious. Have a dark side like everyone. Almost gave up. Death episode of King Aella. Wanted to vomit. Couldn't watch whole scene. Hated losing Ragnar. Intrigued with Ivar the boneless one. He's a real bad-bad boy!... Yes, season five will be exciting. Think there's some true history going on.

Anyone hear from Marioman? Concerned he hasn't posted. He doesn't seem like he'd leave. Just cause of what took place.

Hope all of thee Army has a good day.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-May 2017

Evening folks, I am back. Didn't realise on my trip that day 1 a tour of the wine region was planned followed by "smell this now Tabbers, a lovely fruity aroma" I had to laugh as they were forgetting how things are now. But I enjoyed the scenery and the several vineyard visits even so. Not so much the three days of drinking with lunch and dinner and nights in a bar that followed though, yawn. But I pretty much sailed through, only once did I briefly consider a glass of vino but very quickly fast forwarded to how it would have ended and it would be quickly back to where I started so thanks but no thanks. Did have a single drunken "have a real drink" comment but the man in question had consumed about half a bottle of wine, a few beers and probably conservatively 8 double whiskies by that stage so I forgive him his stupidity. I did however bore him with the extremely long dragged out version of how great life is sober the next morning (4 hours later than me, after he finally got up) by way of return teeheehee. Even so I had a great break away and it felt so good not to be following my old behaviour when seen from the other side of a glass. Mr happy & content signing off for now to go and prepare some food and watch the footy soon.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB) ...........I hope you know how delighted I am for you. That defo deserves a coffee and walnut cake. Tbh I've never understood wine tasting even though I worked for a wine merchant............what the feck's the point of a sip, swirl and a spit..........gimme the bottle.

Wildflowers............I would have killed the king myself after he did what he did to Ragner. I come from the area that the king ruled and Lindisfarne the island where Ragnar got Athelstan the priest is just 60 miles up the road. And what can you say about Ivar..........he's a proper little snot.

tonyniceday My old boss (at the wine merchants) just about had a nervous breakdown each VAT day.

JackieClaire LOVE that cake. Thank you XX Had a lovely day.
Came in from work and the table was perfectly set by the kids (girls), complete with sparkling water in tall wine glasses with slices of lime. They dont question it now, their mam drinks sparkling water.
Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB) - seriously, wine tasting! Its one of my fears (after weddings, but Ive got through one of those), how did you negotiate it? Well done you.

well well well -- 'wine tasting' --- was HORRIFIED the other day - woman I work with PATENTLY has had a problem with alcohol - no evidence at work - but just stories that don't add up sort of -- and then she had a fall about a year and a half ago - broke her wrist in 12 places and quit drinking immediately -- so as they say - 'if it walks like a duck.....' etc.... anyway - her daughters Hen was last week and when she came back she mentioned briefly that she had 'tasted' the champagne for a toast.... maybe she'll be grand - I truly hope so -- but I'm guessing it's only a matter of time -- I know she knows nothing about addiction or has no support or anything so she probably thinks a 'taste' is fine... Christ.....
There are truly as many types of drunks as there are different drinks I reckon.

All the current research says the drug of choice is only a very small part of the problem........we drunks will (and often do) quickly switch to another drug if we don't recognise that we have broken endorphin production (either genetic or due to poor nurture).

We have to accept that we have a susceptibility to inadequate emotional responses. Events that leave normal people 'flooded' with endorphins leave us a little 'flat'. Sensing we are not 'happy enough' we seek an outside high.

I recently realised I had been doing this since I was a teenager, smoking then drinking to bring me up to the 'normal' that my peers seemed to be at all the time. They chose to get 'high' from time to time.....I needed to be 'high' to not feel sad.
