Met a lovely woman who's been coming into AA for 2 weeks (meetings held at the place I work) and has got just over 2 weeks sober. She's a changed woman...........her smile reaches her eyes now (hope you know what I mean)..........I told her and she blushed. :sweet:

I come from the area that the king ruled and Lindisfarne the island where Ragnar got Athelstan the priest is just 60 miles up the road.

I see why that image may have come to mind. Lol

Really seeing peoples frowns turn into these . Sobriety far outweighs being drunk. Hope ya all have a great day. :victorious:

Don't they just bring hours of fun our household appliances ........not.
Mr JC finally had to admit defeat with the Dyson when there were blue flames and sparks coming out of it.
Go on Molls, get yerself something to eat and off to bed. I'm off up in a minute. Going to finish this Henry VIII book before I forget the beginning.

Wildflowers have a lovely day yourself.

Very true Kuya. And in other ways, so many similarities. We can all benchmark ourselves off the homeless guy on the bench with a paper bag, but a couple of glasses or a couple of bottles of wine a night, I bet the fight in your head in the same.. to some degree.

There does seem to be the a) people who dont need to drink every night, but then get rat arsed at the weekends (justification = I dont drink every day therefore I cant be and alcoholic) and the b) people who drink every day, but can function somewhat the next day (justification = I dont get rat arsed like A, therefore I cant be an Al).

Dont know which is worse.. neither I suppose. I was B, easier to hide. I know lots of As, but our culture applauds them.

Not quite sure about the pink bow tie, but otherwise, I have to accept the pic is probably a fair reflection.

Mers - 21 again, eh...just forget the VAT!!

kuya and IamMary

I agree about the different types - and to prove the point Mers, I can add a type "C" to your list, which was me in the end, and that's the person who gets up in the morning and thinks "I'll just finish that bottle from last night" and then "I'll just have one glass from the next", and then "I'll just drink this one down to the level where the first one was, cos then no one will know" and then.............

I am so relieved not to be like that now! - and that gets me smiling too!!

and not feel guilty. I was a type 2, highly functioning but rotting away on the inside. Your job must really cheer you up JC. Think I'll find a book and have a read, have not done that in ages. Waves to everyone else.

Type B here, every single day, I reckon I had about 5 days at most without a drink in 2016. Interspersed with plenty of days when I drank to blackout. I got drunk quite easily in the last few months tbh. I know people who drink a lot have their capacity for it increase but mine must have been broken, probably helped me finally accept it for what it is I suppose.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Morning.
I not sure what I was...........but I do know I was hapless, hopeless and helpless and perhaps a teeny bit organised............always had a bottle of wine open in the fridge...........if I'd used the brain power I used to make sure there was enough alcohol in the house........I could have been a genius of something very important.

Geez I'm glad to be out of that crap.

Off to Tesco. Bacinabit.

I drank every day , always the same amount, always went to sleep the same time, always got up for work and did rinse and repeat. A functional drinker/heavy smoker......never drank during the day.....never did anything risky or illegal.....just slowly killing myself

Hi Molly dear, quick check in for me, just home, its been a long day so food up and a film will do for me. Btw meant to say before to my Irish friends here I got this lovely cordial in Dunnes and mix it with sparkling mineral water. It isn't too sweet at all, recommended, it is called' Dunnes Stores Simply Better Irish Wexford Blackurrant cordial', E5 a bottle but lasts along time, give it a try if you fancy something different. Off to have a big glass now, the power of suggestion eh?
