Re: Paulysville
This is an e-mail that I received from Belle
I’d like to go into your head for just a minute
and re-program something, if you don’t mind.
I’ll just slip in one ear and come back out the other.
And while I’m inside, I want to change one thing.
This is worth doing
because you are worth it.
Being sober is worth doing
because you are worth it.
Any shitty sober day
is better than a new Day 1.
And any improvement that you can make
to the quality of your life
is worth it for you.
You don’t have to do it for your family
you don’t have to do it for your kids
you don’t have to do it for anybody
you doing it for you is enough.
I go in one ear and I say:
This is worth doing
because you are worth it —
and then I come out the other ear
and I leave you."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: Paulysville
Ok kiddo - you don't want to ruin your California vacation. I can tell you from lots & lots of experience. It's not going to be any easier to quit tomorrow. Get rid of it and no more. Even if you have to go and spend the rest of the day in bed. Just stop the drinking. Big hugs to you."Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: Paulysville
Pauly, you do know how to close the door.
Just make the choice & do it. That's all you have to do.
Every day you have the opportunity to make a choice, make the right one for you
I know you can do this!AF since 03/26/09

Ahhhh Pauly, I don’t know whether to kick your butt all the way to California, or give you my shoulder to lean on!
You have so many people here rooting for you, offering their help and support, yet when you need it most you turn away, why? It’s almost like you don’t care one way or another otherwise you’d reach out when you get to thinking those drinking thoughts.
I know you want to get a quit that sticks because you keep coming back, but you’ve got to open up and ask for help, you can’t do this on your own, no one can.
Maybe counselling is your best option for now. Deal with all the extra emotions you’re carrying around with you. Something has to work, there is a way out for everyone if they open themselves up to it. Try anything and everything, and keep trying. You can close that door, lock it, and throw away the key, but you need a bit of help getting that deadbolt turned for good! Please let us help you...
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Re: Paulysville
Hi Pauly, there are many stages of grief; shock, anger and it takes a while before acceptance is achieved. I wish I could get the guilt of shame and grief out of your head, you are an outstanding person.
My daughter was very emotional at her step-dad's funeral yesterday and is so very sad to see. There is a book on the stages of grief and it very much helped me me when my mom died. When I saw a doctor about it he reckoned 9 months (same as a pregnancy) to grieve for a family member. In your case suicide is very difficult because we somehow feel very betrayed. You know what you need to do.Enlightened by MWO

Re: Paulysville
I know the saying is "1 is to many and 100 isn't enough" but I've changed it to 1 is too many and 10 isn't enough cuz it's more realistic and got me thinking about how I feel 10 beers in,buzzed but still looking,a real eye opener that 10 beers would make most people ripped but for me barely does anything, don't really have much to update really just getting through and living I guess.I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:
