Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017
Good Afternoon, Friends!
Liz:hug:My dad ALWAYS listened MUCH more to my sister's husband than he did to my sister or the REST OF US. Please do NOT take it personally. It is NOT that your dad loves your husband more than he loves you...please do not think that at all. Guys like to listen to guys when they are failing because they think we women are way too emotional. Maybe they are right.
AG-so glad you have been enjoying Oregon with your son. It's so nice to get away, isn't it? Sorry to hear about your MIL's failing memory. My mother's memory has deteriorated quite a bit as well. When do you start your new job? Are you excited????
Techie-WOW WOW WOW....CYCLING. :welldone: Where do you get all your energy? Please send some to me, love!
Mr.G-what most of the female members of the Steppers' Thread would like to know is....how is the relationship with your new friend going? Please give us any details.
If you won't give us details, then I will pester you with a PM, and you don't want that!!! HAAHAHAHAHH!! LOL.
Pauly-the Raiders are moving to VEGAS? Have I been living under a rock? I did not know that. UGH. Sorry about the rent increase. SUCKS. Pauly-the GABA is the only way I am able to function with my neck because the herniated discs are now pressing on my spinal cord. I take 600 mgs. at night and I sleep like a log. One unfortunate side effect: weight gain. But hey, I will tolerate that because it's either the Gabapentin or I am looking at risky surgery and a long, long recovery time where I won't be able to work. NO BUENO. How is Christina? To answer your question, I am taking a Staycation the week of 4th of July. :-)
Classy Glassie-how is your grandbabe? How was your vacation? Miss you tons!!
Big Hellos to anyone I missed!

Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017
Rusty, I am not at all offended by how much my parents love hubby! I know he's an amazing man and we are lucky to have him. Home now and exhausted from doing nothing. Daddy slept most of the time. He's confused as to what time of day it is, but I am grateful he is quiet.
Mommy is trying to be strong but she cried on the phone with me. I can seriously count the times I've seen mommy cry on one hand. J. My older sister said that it might come down to a nursing home for him, if he cannot be handled at home. Right now he is compliant. Not sure if he will be able to walk or even feed himself anymore. I just love him so much, my heart is breaking. Mom asked about CJ and I told her she went to St. Croix, you know, because she's needs to worry about something else. So this is my life right now. Hoping for the best possible outcome and just a little normalcy?

Liz:hug::hug:My heart would be breaking, too. You are such a fine daughter.
Nora-what's new with your son and his wife? Are they enjoying their new apartment?
Working here but took a break for some exercise. Grateful to be sober and grateful to have enjoyed my day...even if I worked most of it. :happy2:

Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017
I hope that everyone has found a reason to smile today. Even though this has been such a really hard day, I hope that there was at least one thing that for a moment lightened your heart. I am not good at words but I just want to say how much I care about all of you. I am not being able to comment to everyone like I like to but that doesn't mean that I haven't been thinking of you. So, thank you all for being here with me on this journey.
And, enough of the sappy stuff :rotlf:
We have been going thru more and more stuff. Feels good just simplifying. I am still on the weird reading kick. Nothing that requires any thought. LOL Oh well, I guess I could be wasting my time on worse things.
Onward (thanks AG)"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017
Hi all, taking advantage of good internet tonight at the assisted living home (!) before we head off to our cabin in Alaska tomorrow. We have such a complicated summer. We usually all go to AK for about 8 - 10 weeks but due to High School schedules that is not happening. Hubs and I knew this was coming and I'm ok with it. I'll be back home after 10 days to continue to shuttle youngest son to sporting practices. Oldest son will go will hubs to a 2 1/2 week boy scout high adventure camp.
Liz, wow, I can't even wrap my head around what you have going on. I hope your dad continues to recover, even if it is slowly. Is your mom able to care for herself at home?
Rusty, so glad you get a staycation. What are your plans? Hopefully read a good (non-work) book and relax?
Techie, you are awesome! So much energy. I love it and I love that you keep us updated on your travels and life.
SK- how are you today? Did you get rid of the fire ants? Yikes.
Nora, what is going on with your kids? Are you loving the "new" house? We will be empty nesters (maybe) in four years. Of course, I have mixed feelings. Is it just about how happy your kids are? If they are happy hopefully I will be too . . . . unless they are abusing AL!!
Signing off for now. Anyone I missed, we will catch up soon. I may be out of touch for the next few days as internet is only possible at a few locations in town : ) Take care all. Onward! AG

Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017
Liz I’m so glad there’s been some improvement. :heartbeat: I hope it continues. Let us know when you get the EEG results if you can. Your mother is very lucky to have you. How is your work being through all this? Are they being supportive if you need to take time off? And how is the adorable baby Logan? Is he eating, pooping and sleeping as required?
Pauly, I second what Nora said about how happy we are that you’re looking after yourself. That is such a hard thing to do when you’re feeling down, but it’s essential so you don’t spiral down further. And the housework can ALWAYS wait!
Nora – your words do the job just fine. You mean a lot to us too! I just love, love, love decluttering. My worst fault is keeping ‘sentimental’ items. Which would be ok, except I have a very broad definition of what constitutes sentimental. Note to Glassie – just because someone you love walked past something once, doesn’t mean you can't throw it away!
Rusty – a whole week off work! You rebellious little minx, you! Anymore of this anarchy and before we know it you’ll be wearing white before Memorial Day!
I ended up babysitting the grandangel for a bit longer yesterday so the kids could go shopping for a new kettle before their yoga class. Yep – we live wild ‘round these parts. She is so delightful. Even though she has a cold, the only time she even whimpered was when I left her for a minute to get a tissue. Apparently my kids' kids are better kids than my kids! Go figure! There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes
You can dig the ventilation... or you can sing the blues
I didn't come this far to only come this far.

Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017
Like Nora said I wll just simplify as well. You guys are the best and your support has been a lifesaver for me. That's not even an exaggeration! I love you all and I am so blessed to have found this sight and this little group. Thank you Thank you.
AG I remember you went last year to Alaska. That sounds amazing.
I'm heading off to the hospital in a bit, hoping dad had a good night. He is having the EEG for 24 hours, started last night. He may go home tonight?
Mom is very able to care for herself. She tried to put on a brave front about taking care of dad, I know her better than that. She is worried.
Don't know where I left you off but J bought daddy subway sandwich and he woofed that down, no assistance needed! He was able to get up and use the bathroom. So I am hopeful he will be like he was before this "episode" and we can all manage that. Like mommy says one day at a time.

Morning all,Liz,your dad's eating so thats a good sign, hopefully they're catching this early and with the right meds it'll stop or at least cut down on his episodes, Nora,I second what you said about our group, you and Rusty reaching out to me privately during all I've been dealing with was a sign of true friendship, I'll never forget that AG,I'm totally jealous! I'll just leave it at that haha SK,hope you're getting some pain relief by now,Techie, how was the biking event? Glassy,I think granddaughter is almost 1? Time goes by too fast! Pauly-hahah!!! I love the idea of singing and dancing with the mop. What a way to make moving furniture fun. My sister is 61 and she LOVES the Backstreet Boys too. My niece got some great pics of the concert. They stayed at Bellagio. Ahem.....good thing she and hubs have good jobs! I have never stayed there. What was the temperature there this weekend? All I know it's too hot for this Cheesehead from Wisconsin. Hahah!Last edited by Rusty; June 26, 2017, 08:48 AM.
