Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017

Good Friday evening all. Not much too new here. Dad had a nurse and PT come in today. J. Was there to get things situated. Mom and dad are exhausted. Hubby is going by tomorrow and do some gardening and repairs. I think I will take Sunday. Other sissy E on Monday. We shall see how this pans out.
CJ s invites came. I'm dying to look at them but shall leave it alone. They will be home Sunday. Have not heard how the second interview went, but he posted a picture of him fishing on Instagram. Working on the house my @$&!
Mark went to universal studios with friends and I am so thankful the house is quiet and I have nothing to do imminently.
Great day at work! Now how often have you heard me say that? Not too busy, got a lot done. Summer vacations have begun.
Does anyone have plans for the summer? I know glassie and AG do. Wishing you all a great AF Friday night.

Ever wonder if we are more predisposed to feeling empathy and we drink over it so it goes away? Just my thought for the evening.

Hello all. I have 4 days off and am looking forward to it. I'm thinking about going in for a couple of hours but that's ok because it'll be when and if I want.

empyr3al - I don't know if i understand what you mean. If you mean sensitive to other people's feelings and wanting to help the underdog, then yes I have always been that way.

Liz - super exciting that the invites have arrived. I'm glad that the nurse & PT were there but I'm sure your parents are exhausted.
Oh - and I hope that Lucy will come around soon!

Does anyone have any big plans this weekend? I'm hoping to go thru more stuff. Mom gets major anxiety when she sees us going thru stuff. She is scared we'll get rid of something. LOL So, we have to do it on the sly.

Happy weekend all!!

Re: One Step at a Time - June 2017

Good Morning, Everyone!

I am off to grocery shop in a few minutes to beat the crowd. I am going to my sister's tonight for dinner and I have to get a few things. Tomorrow, I will plant geraniums out front on the deck and then put them also in several planters. Just like yesterday, today will surely fly by. Why is that???? LOL

Liz-I am glad the invitations arrived, and also that you ENJOYED going to work. We haven't heard that in a LONG time. LOL. Same for me, girlfriend. I missed this...WHO is interviewing...CJ or Joe?
empyr3al-I wasn't sure what you meant, either. If you meant that we drank so we didn't care about other people's feelings...I think in the end I drank to avoid doing something I dreaded...like paperwork required for my business, and to avoid thinking about what I perceived as walking into a hostile work environment at one of my client's sites. Just wondering...how much weight did your wife lose after GBS? Your wife's surgery made me think of MWO member, Cinders, who fought hard for her sobriety and I think of her so often because one of her last posts was absolutely heartbreaking. She was married with two adult children who were also alcoholics...and she used to keep a bottle of vodka on her side of the bed so she could get to it during the night. She posted that she had to go to the ER because she had perforated her stomach due to drinking but that didn't stop her. That GBS was the kiss of death for her. :-( Fortunately, at the very end of her MWO involvement, she was starting a cleaning business out of her home and she seems so excited. I was happy for her. :-)

Pauly-I got some one of the details wrong about my niece's trip to Vegas to celebrate her 30th birthday. They stayed at MGM, not Bellagio. I found this interesting...she said Fremont St (sp?) has a cover over it to shield people from the sun because it is so hot there now. I never saw that when I was in Vegas. They went to the Strip, too. And, she played craps and broke even. That's all you can ask for if you gamble, I guess...is to break even. I'm not a gambler...

Glassie-so glad you've gotten some grand babysitting time with your darling little granddaughter. How fun!

Hey Mr.G-how is it going with your lady friend?

Nora-I'm with you, hon. I have some paperwork to do but I will do it when I'm good and ready. Hahaha! I am sorry your mom feels badly when she sees you getting rid of stuff.
It is SO hard to let go.

SK-how are you feeling?

AG-you must be in Alaska?

Mr.V-check in, please!

Did I miss anyone? I hope not.

Gotta fly now! Happy AF Saturday, everyone!

Rusty wow, I guess cinders was before my time. Did she just stop posting here or do we know what happened to her?
I guess I missed a lot this past week.

Nora, glad you've got a long weekend. I plan on having a BBQ on Tuesday.

Check in with you all later.

Rusty, too be a little more specific. Drinking so we can shut off emotions or concerns. Might be clients, might be loved ones. Shutting down shame.

My (ex)wife didn't lose a ton of weight with bypass surgery. The dumping syndrome was hard to handle at first. We spent 10,000$ CAD later for skin surgery after the fact and that is where the major weight loss came from. Excess skin is different. Tons of pounds of skin. Something like 100lbs after being obess for so long it does not disappear and is considered elective. After all was said and done she is 220-240 and waivers instead of ~400lbs. Strong woman, physically and mentally. She is still ashamed because well we could not afford to do everything like legs, only a tummy tuck kind of thing. Legs get strong when you carry that much weight. I still love her and loved her when she was over weight. Thinking about her I miss her badly.

Its Canada day now so on with the positive.

I'm sorry about Cinders. My wife was not an addict or alcoholic so the situation is a little different.
