Dinner and a movie last night (free gaff). Lovely to enjoy the moment, the food, the chat, without the distraction of lining up the next drink.

Empy - I grew up just north of Lake Ontario - my sister lives on Hay Bay near Napanee and the water level is really high this year as it is all over the province. Don't know if you know Ontario at all but there are a couple of Provincial Parks right on the water - the Sand Banks being one of them. Guess what - no more sand banks - they got washed into the lake. Really freaky when you think of it. And it was just last year or the year before that they had no rain at all in the spring-early summer. Six weeks of drought and everything dried up completely. Crazy weather!!
Wishing you all a day with sunshine and smiles and a wink of the eye!! inkele:

The sand banks are gone?!! I was there a decade ago on the wooden walk ways and explored the entire park for a week. So there is no sand and its destroyed? Habitats destroyed. *cry*

I am between lake erie and lake ontario at the moment. Everything is under water around the lakes. The highways which happen to be the largest in the world were flooded in parts on the north side of lake ontario and you would know these are the craziest engineered highways in the world. Except maybe some in the netherland that have embeded lighting and crazy stuff. Otherwise we had a lot or rain today.

          Good morning Army!!!

KTAB - good to see you checking in and that you are keeping busy.

Satzy - I like the sound of your new job - it looks like it will be entertaining to say the least!

Mary, thanks for the mention. Things are not well but I am trying to be as positive as possible. Nothing more I can do at this point. I'm a lot calmer than I was and that helps.

Molly - hope you got a good rest.

Jackie - any baking today? I'm feeling kinda hungry right at the moment.

Empy - I saw a video someone posted from the Sandbanks - they were walking right by the water and there were no sand hills at all - everything had been washed into Lake Ontario and the area was all flattened out. Terrible, when you think about it. We went there on a school trip 50 years ago and I can still remember it.

Wishing you all a sunshiny day even if it rains!!! :flowerspin:

Shout out to Mrs. A if you're around!!

Quick hello to you all. Been awake half the night worrying about my daughter and family who are on holiday in Kos. The earthquake although severe never bothered them as their building was very sound. I only managed to hear from them a few hours ago and they are on the beach now!
Hope you are all OK. Off to the shops to buy a suitcase for my holidays. XX

Late good evening, just back from Aldi

Ahh Mrs A, we never stop worrying about our little ones even when they're grown up. Where are you off to?

I don't know if any of you remember my Aunt who has dementia............talked to her sister today and she's been moved into a nursing home and she's up for visitors. She's having to sell her fabulous house.............so lovely it has a teeny stream at the bottom of the huge garden.

Work for me today too. :egad:
New job nerves - have been ranting with good friends on FB. They are very patient

Basically, the reception is so busy I couldn't get training during the week.
Turns out it's not just greeting & smiling - it's HR records/resident records / medical records / settle new residents in / console residents / and generally cover for care workers & nurses.
That is GREAT - but I need training on the records systems to be able to do the job PROPERLY!

                          Rant over !!

                          MORNING ARMY !!!!!!

                                Good morning Army!!!

Big HELLO to Satzybum, Molly-mou and KTABbers and to whoever drops by later!!

Satz - I'm sure with your experience, it will take very little training for you to understand how their system works. Just delighted for you that you have a new and interesting job that involves direct contact with people and not nosey co-workers looking over yer shoulder.

Molly - ouch on the nettles. Hope you get some relief soon.

I have never heard of dock leaves. Here they collect the leaves of St. John's Wort, put it in bottles with oil and use it for various things. I get mine from the pharmacy and I have found it good for everything from soothing irritated skin to easing leg cramps and joint pains.

K - enjoy your day at work. I understand you're looking for something new. Never give up - just the time you say nothing is out there, is the time the perfect job will fall into your lap!!

Wishing you all a day with a song and a smile and a wink of the eye!!! inkele:
