Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-August 2017
Afternoon lovely Techster! how are you keeping?
Had a lovely time in Newry Rustyroo -- reminds me of when I used to go up for the cheap booze - telling the cashier in Sainsbury's that we were having a HUGE party... (child at my side looking puzzled!!!) trolley jammed with bottles of cheap plonk -- twas a novelty to buy all the unusual foodie bits today without worrying how big the bill would be adding them onto the price of the booze already purchased... sad-- pathetic really
Had a lovely lunch on the way home then came home and collapsed on couch -- very tired after extremely busy week in work - tomorrow will be no better... wotcha watching on Netflix?Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-August 2017
Evening..........although its nearly pyjama time this side of the pond.
Mr Vervill.......loved the caravan racing. Not sure my brother would be too please if I started haring round with his caravan........although it depends on the prize money.
The Techmeister, always a pleasure to see you.
Molls, the number of 'parties' and 'lunches' we had must have given the impression we had a squillion friends and an extremely busy social life...........how may times have we said.....'while its on offer we'll take half a dozens bottles'.........who were we kidding.
Met a friend this morning for coffee........he recently fell of the wagon and managed to chop the top of his middle finger off........luckily the very friendly taxi driver took him to ER.........he remembers nothing of how or where he did it.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Hello
Full house here, cousins sleeping over - its how we manage babysitting. Great in theory, but way too much giggling, there will be sore heads tomorrow:hopelessness:

Dont miss the supermarket lies either Molls, convincing myself as much as the checkout girl. Every now and then I see a 'me' type, loading up the wine, between the apples and washing powder. I get an urge to say, you really can escape this shit! but they could really be having a party

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-August 2017
Howdy doody... from the sick pit of Arsie's man-cave. Was getting up through the night to down cough medicine cos throat was sore and dry and a hacking off wasn't helping. And have that horrid thing we have all experienced when we have a bunged up nose and then trying to sleep only breathing through yer mouth, Dry mouth syndrome. No sleep syndrome...
Meanwhile I am trying to write a research proposal for my masters degree. Had to be in yesterday but uni have given me a few days extra. Just as well as all I can manage is turning Netflix on and flopping back only side, surrounded by tissues and lemsip.
mollyka - glad you have a guid wee trip up norf.
JackieClaire - Mela looks great. And good luck on your daughter running the GT Norf Run.
Right off to slouch

Evening,
mollyka it's just to alert someone that you are chatting to them, maybe you dont have something to quote. Does the same thing though. Its grand for easy names, but easier to quote others (eg Tabbers!).

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-August 2017
Morning to all the crankies and non crannies. End of what was a really s**ty week here with one thing after another, the thoughts of picking up a drink entered my head but only in the sense of this is how I would have coped in the past. Glad those days are behind me because the problems/hassles would be still there when I awoke feeling awful the next morning, the hangover and regrets would only make the situation worse. In the past I knew this fact before of course but just didn't care. I suppose that was a lack of self worth or self respect. The new me knows better. Putting in the hard work is paying off now when I need it much more then when I am floating along on my happy cloud. Just some personal thoughts this morning, it's good not to bottle things up.
Off out after breakfast to fix a long stretch of fencing where the rabbits are getting in and showing puppy dog the way out, not that she needs any help to mimic Houdini. Might just have a lazy afternoon of sport in front of the tv this afternoon, and sure why not. But do now going out now to pick some fresh raspberries.
Take care folks.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?
