Haha I did know the mechanism of it lovely Mary but jeez do you not get irritated when it keeps showing up on notifications?? Drives me bananas!!!

Ah tabbers - you are handling things brilliantly - and shit weeks/days/months will always come along - like you say - it's the hard yards put in that come to our aid at times like that - off down to Galway for couple of days - escaping!!!!

Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB) well said. I do like your Sunday morning thoughts. I always reflect a bit more on Sundays, habit maybe or just not tearing around as much as the other days.

Now I must go to tear around as I almost have a free gaff here.

Morning to all the crankies and non crannies. End of what was a really s**ty week here with one thing after another, the thoughts of picking up a drink entered my head but only in the sense of this is how I would have coped in the past. Glad those days are behind me because the problems/hassles would be still there when I awoke feeling awful the next morning, the hangover and regrets would only make the situation worse. In the past I knew this fact before of course but just didn't care. I suppose that was a lack of self worth or self respect. The new me knows better. Putting in the hard work is paying off now when I need it much more then when I am floating along on my happy cloud. Just some personal thoughts this morning, it's good not to bottle things up.
Off out after breakfast to fix a long stretch of fencing where the rabbits are getting in and showing puppy dog the way out, not that she needs any help to mimic Houdini. Might just have a lazy afternoon of sport in front of the tv this afternoon, and sure why not. But do now going out now to pick some fresh raspberries.
Take care folks.
Hello Army and hope you've all been having a wonderful Sunday!!

KTAB - great post - just shows how we CAN change our thinking when it comes to AL. Last night as I was getting ready for bed, it suddenly occurred to me that my thinking had changed drastically since I stopped drinking on one particular subject and this is it - I used to get up in the morning and count the hours until I could start drinking again. Now, when I go to bed at night, I count how many hours it is til I can get up and start my new day!!! Never before 5:30 a.m. so as to not wake Mr. Stirly but there have been very early mornings when I had slept enough and just wanted to get up and get going!!! Now that is a huge change in thought and attitude and I am so very grateful for it!!!!

Had my 65th birthday this past Friday and I can truly say that I have never felt younger, more energetic and more able to take on whatever life throws at me. I would never, ever have felt that way if I was still drinking. And another huge positive is that I look 10 years younger than I am - at least that's what people tell me!! Gone is the dull skin and the tired eyes. I walk taller, smile more, my skin glows and my eyes sparkle!! Sober is the only way for moi!!!!!!:sohappy:ink::spin::makeup:

Evening troops,

And thank you Jackie and Mary for the lovely clips - nothing like a giggle when yer feeling pretty piddle.

Great posts Tabbers and Stirly (and a very happy birthday, Stirly!).

Am luxuriating in not feeling at all energetic with netflix binging (interspersed with a wee bit of reading and a wee bit of prep for skool). Lots of tea and toast. Hopefully will be back on the well side when I wake up tomorrow, ready to battle the blighters... I mean, educate the entertaining wee souls ...

A belated Happy Birthday stirly-girly!

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Belated happy birthday Stirly. Enjoy the bank holiday JC. Don't envy you the back to school chaos and expense Mary. Hope you are feeling better Arsie. All well here, busy and enjoying being alcohol free. Just in from work so need to get the dinner on.

Evening check in, howdy.

Moll's car - where can i get one?! reminds me of Billy Connelly's banana feet...

JackieClaire, your mela food list has me drooling - and I've just eaten. Uhh... but i fink it's only a bank holiday in England, Wales and Norn Iron. All open up this away.

Feeling better, cold past it's worst :happy2: Just as well, as had a ... interesting beginning to the day... with a 7 yr old in a class I teach in the morning deciding to tell me to "get to f***", to "f*** off" as well as "f*** you"... then attempting to haul my teaching resources across the floor, before doing a Flloyd Mayweather on me (missing - he is 2ft shorter than me) and finally showing me the length of his middle finger.

Delightful lad.

And all before lunch.

On a Monday.

Boy, the week ahead looks... bright. :eek-new:
