    Re: Remembering Mario

Thank you for all the love and support you gave to us!... You said you drank for as many reasons as there are leaves on trees. You reminded me how important it is to reach out. That we weren't met to go this alone. To not let thoughts harbour in our minds, to work our tools. How you comforted us when there was a mass school shooting. You gave examples on all the good that was still happening in this world. You gave us comfort. You have left a treasure of wisdom and hope here!...Thank you for your loving, unselfish heart!... You will be missed!...:heartbeat:

I understand that Mario has tragically passed away. I don't know any details but this is very sad news indeed. He helped so many people on MWO and he as always straight-talking.

          Re: Remembering Mario

This is one of the last posts Mario made from April 27, 2017. Such a message of hope and encouragement! Such a reassuring answer to the question we all have: will the cravings ever go away and will the obsession ever be lifted if I keep at this? So many of us give up because we think it will never end. He was so humble and so in touch with humanity.

          Re: Newbies Nest
Good morning nesters, all of you.

Being around for a while now in recovery, just over 8 years, ,Sometimes I tend to forget how hard it is to get clean & sober . I myself don't ever think about drinking or taking any other drugs , that obsession is relived & for me my job now is to pass what I learned on. It can be a bit rough knowing that some people are going to get it & some are not.

We all want the newcomer's to succeed , Sometimes here & other fellowships I involved in I see so many folks coming in & going out & coming back in again that it seems we are failing, I remember a few years ago I was helping a lad in recovery, I was doing everything for him, going to gyms, getting him work driving him places and I even missed going home to Ireland for Christmas as he had no one, But on the the 24th of December he went back on the drink & left me fuming angry & confused.

I learned from that that I cant engineer anyone's sobriety, whether they drink or not is for them to decide, only them. So if it ever comes across that those of us with lots of clean time under our belts come across as preachy , Please understand its only because we want you to stick around & find out what we have discovered , Recovery from this is possible, give yourself a chance.

have a good day folks & keep on sharing as you not alone .

I thought Mario had a break and it got longer and longer. Mario would login everyday and help give that boost for the day and it was reciprocal. Miss the support that Mario gave to this forum RIP buddy

I saw this last night right before going to bed and was awake a lot last night.
                      Dearest Mario you are missed.

This year has been devastating with all of the loss and heartache. We have lost some of the most loved around us.

                        Re: Remembering Mario

Rest in Peace Mario. You were generous, warm and consistent in your posts. One of the first few times I logged on, I saw your number of sober days. It seemed unfathomable to me, but when I read your posts, I could tell there was a real and genuine person behind them. That made me believe that quitting drinking was possible, and I stuck around to look through some more posts. I'm sorry for the way your life ended. I hope that you know how valuable your voice was here on MWO. Thank you for all you shared, and for your efforts in trying to help others get sober. With much love, Jane

wow, I have been away from MWO for awhile. I specifically went back on to chat with Mario and ask about the drinking verse. I am working with a new sponsee and want to share it. I cannot find it. Then I saw this come up in my search. RIP Mario, he shared his experience strength and hope to many.
