Been meaning to tell you for ages.......a few weeks ago I was finally tidying up the last of my Granny's stuff ( 3 years since she died) and came across some spectacle cases.........about 8 of them. I got a bit emotional and thought was thinking how much I loved that woman and how much she loved her glasses............demanded a new pair every year. Anyway I was sat on the floor and opened one of the cases and under the glasses was a little note just saying............I love you.........I got the warm and fuzzies and a little tear in my eye.

I've kept those and given the rest of them to charity.....
Good morning all. What a lovely story JC, nice to start the day reading something like that. Congrats Molly on the new arrival, is this the first granddaughter? Enjoy 😊. Glad things are back on track Satz. You sound like superwoman Mary, it's crazy how busy things are when you have little people and working. Wave to everyone else who pops in.

Cross posted there Molly. If it is the poster you mentioned yesterday then definitely block/ignore. Wonder if they are still drinking, does not sound like normal, healthy behaviour.

Good Morning, Army!

Molly, congratulations on your first granddaughter!:yay: I am so happy for you. Ah, another lady in the house to even out the male/female ratio. ;-) Does she live close by? Sorry to hear about the PMs.:egad: Sad sack, indeed. Someday I will get to Ireland because my grandpa came from Waterford and I would LOVE to go there.

She claims to have been sober for about as many years as Jackie, but I seriously doubt it. If you could see her rants on our thread, they make NO sense.

Jackie-I loved your story about the glasses! Wow, how powerful. What a way to start your day.
catch22-thank you for your condolences. My mom and I are doing fine now. We got the funeral out of the way so we can move on now. :-)

Hello to everyone else in the Army...hope you're having a wonderful day!

Evening troops,

Just having a quick read back, so...
satz123 - good to hear the young 'un has a few days in. sending you the bestest that he finds a way through

@... NO! not an@, just a MOLLS! Molls - congrats on yer first granddaughter, great news indeedy
everyone else, hope you are all doing well wherever you are. But the way JC, many moons ago when I was a teenage lad, I worked in Burger King... and I always was confused by folks who came in for Large Whopper meal, but have it with a diet drink.... and then when I'd ask, would you like to go large for an extra 30p (as it was back in those days), they'd say, YES. And i'd be like, eh? (Unless of course the diet drink was cos they were minding sugar and their teeth... but i don't think so... not when they ordered a doughnut too...)

As for why we did the drinking... i found I'd drink (when it was not a daily habit) when i didn't have responsibility for anyone else the following day. So - e.g. the weekends became the classic example - no school, no kids, just me. Holidays could be a bit nightmarish - never went off the rails, but it could easily become a bit too much and a bit too regular. But if there was a responsibility, or if I was with my bro's family for example, (tho not my folks), i'd not drink.

Life quiet-ish here, off to get read for the bed.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-September 2017

I spose I did the 'responsibility' drinking all my adult life - bit daft as a teenager - then relatively wise with children - and then - my 2nd childhood - round 45-50 - no smallies - no nothing really - and then it grew into dependence - and then we all know - the hiding - the pretending - the minimising - the wanting that first one of the weekend a 'bit' earlier..........

Yep Jacks - girding my loins for the marathon at work.

Thanks everyone for kind thoughts for the youngfella - he seems kinda calm & content at the moment.
Going to work, coming home - reading etc.
Not sure where we go from here.

A group discussion, including GF on in-patient treatment I think.
No point him thinking he's 'cured'

Morning...........both eyes slightly open but not awake.
I don't think I'll be doing anything briskly today.....especially walking. Wore some new boots yesterday and I've got a blister on my little toe and it really, really hurts..........
