Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol - October 2017

Mid-afternoon and extremely sunny and warm here...ah, I love autumn! Good Evening to my Army friends here.

Yes, Molly, the wedding was lots of fun! I danced a lot and spent time with some family members I had not seen in a while. I love being around young people. :-) As weird as this sounds, I was never a big drinker at weddings even when my drinking was at its absolute worst so it was not a problem for me to stay sober at weddings. I am really close to my nephew who got married, and I just loved the venue of being in the foothills of the mountains and surrounded by so much beauty. It was really cool. I felt sorry for his mom, my sister-in-law, whose brother and sister are both alcoholics and couldn't be bothered to come to the wedding. It cut into their drinking time!

Enjoy the Stephen King movie.

Evening,
Bringing with me a bit of sad news..........the aged Aunt (92) I told you about a couple of weeks ago who broke her leg while painting the garden fence despite the fact she was making an excellent recovery and ready to move onto a general hospital ward is now in a coma and near the end.
Poor Mr JC has had to go up to Ma and Pa in law's to tell them. Pa in law is the youngest brother at 88.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Rusty...........glad you had a good time at the wedding. I thought I would never dance again after I got sober........thinking I could only shake my booty when I had a few drinks on board...........another couldn't be further from the truth. Also depends on the music.

Evening troops, 'tis the hairy wan, wi a pussy between his whiskers.

Sorry to hear about yer aunt, JC - sending cyber hugs down your way.

Liking the chat about gender you all been having. As someone with male attachments (i'd hardly call myself a "bloke", just a boy who looks like man who is still struggling to grow up proper), I do empathise with the not sharing, as much as I am a pretty open person - and have little hassle being on a (this) forum. I can still hold back... wonder if the older we get, the more private we can become? Maybes, maybes no. I think too, when we are more sure in ourselves of who we are, what we want/need, where we are going, may make us more confident in being open as people... I may just be speaking about myself there.

Have a night off from rehearsals with the singing troops ... but at skool tomorrow night - not parents evening, but as school is closing down soon, there's a last 'open evening' where folks/former pupils can have a gander round the classrooms. Needless to say, teachers were hurriedly putting up wall displays...!

Right - off to do the dishes them leaba.

haha -- so you're enjoying a daughter too!!!?? My lassie was a rebel when she was younger but now that she's all growed up and going to have a baby she's hanging on my every word!!! find it quite flattering and long may it last haha!!
Sorry bout the aunt Jackie -- I had a flurry of them popping off a couple of years back but they're all gone now.
hey Arsie
Well I became less private as I got older in ways -- more private on these boards for obvious reasons but generally -- well I s'pose my life has no secrets... so yeah - I just say things as I see them..... may live to regret that!!!!!

Well as a FEmale..Im rubbish at sharing, always have been. Opening up here was the most uncomfortable thing Ive ever done! For a while anyway, then I got over myself. In ways I am really private, other ways I'll babble away. Confidence does play a part, absolutely.

Congratulations Molly! How many grandkids will this be?

ALl ok with Satz and son?

rustop59 lucky you having your girls not so far away.

Chatting to a friend recently, she was telling me about being shy/not having confidence walking into a room of people, which I get (there now, I was v open!). She sent me this Ted talk and it actually works!! so thats my tip of the evening.

LEaba, night all xx

I didn't, much to my embarrassment, though I try not to focus on my constant f**k ups of the past. Its enough to know I will do all in my power to ensure they never reoccur.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

hallo darlinks -- jaysus yiz are very quiet out there --- when I came here first I opened up about everything and it was an amazing 'go to' place - cos actually -- the drinking is really only a symptom of unhappiness inside a lot of the time imo -- and it's a shame when we don't have a safe place to do that... AA is good for that but again - I wouldn't recommend a local meeting as there's always one troll - online or face to face - ALWAYS one.... tho I have to say I never encountered it in AA but I may just have been lucky

Xpost Tabbers -- oh I did try and limit myself in public -- and funnily enough - the group I hung around with - about 8-10 of us -- mainly couples -- I probably genuinely drank less than most of them -- occasionally would have had a nap in a corner of a couch in one of the houses on a late night but that's as bad as I ever got!! and I wouldn't have been the only one!!!!
Right must away - banks, accountants, all sorts of shite to be dealt with -- the A word (accountant) is the dirty word in our house this week!!! robbing bastards haha!!! (only JOKING if yer an accountant!!!!)

Aged Aunt is still with us.........woke up long enough to tell her daughter to go home and get some rest. Her son's on the way from Sweden.

S&H's girlfriend is in London accepting her invite to join the solicitor's roll.

Bess at the vets tomorrow for a check up, seeing how she was bouncing round like a six month puppy last night don't think we've got much to worry about.
