I get you Satz regarding the hidden sugars. Luckily I cook from scratch so that helps and if I can cut out most of the crap I'll be 😊 happy. Off to get ready for work, catch you all later.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol - October 2017
Well done Stirly -- like I said to Mary a good while back - the treatment centre considered the 2 year mark the beginning of long term sobriety and the percentage rate of successful long term sobriety after 2 years SHOT up -- so well done you -- must feel great!!!
I'll say no more re. young Satz cos I haven't a clue now what I would do -- I keep putting it into my own life and seeing it as one of mine -- really dunno -- it depends on what he's willing to do I s'pose to get sober. I feel for you all and it will work out - it's just a matter of when... and it is such a sad addiction - it's fecking awful
Full house here these days too - the boys are all over it like a rash 'why doesn't she get a house?' 'why is she home at her age?' -- like you Satz -- I'm a mam - and as a young one she looked out for herself - living in Canada all those years -- a few months at home with her folks till she gets herself sorted -- seems reasonable to me!! just making me anxious that the lads will say stuff and things will kick off... talked to Joe this morning tho and we are both agreed that we are on the same page... so that's a relief!
How's everyone? and how's Day 2 feeling Tony? Be prepared also for extreme feelings of anxiety that come in the first week - can make things feel overpowering.. and then..... well you know where that can lead!! it's all in your hands now lovely man xxContentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Pandemonium at your house with your daughter and partner living there...delighted that you like her partner. I can only imagine the boys' snarky comments. Oh well. Boys will be boys. When is your daughter due? What an exciting time for you. Sooooo happy for you!:yay: Check your Inbox in a few.

Huge Congrats stirly!!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Congratualtions to our dark orchid tart on 2 years alcohol free today. 10/10/17
Thank you Jackie for the lovely cake!! It looks absolutely delish!!! Everyone is welcome to help themselves.
Molly - I do feel great! My life has changed so much and I know it sounds cliche but I have truly found myself again. I am so comfortable in my own skin, I love me and I really am in one of the best phases of my life. I feel free and strong - stronger than I did at 50! Life is a new adventure to me - to be embraced and explored and enjoyed. AL can no longer rob me of that because I am stronger than that. I don't take my sobriety for granted but I know in my deepest heart that it will be ongoing and forever. Simply, there is nothing that could make me give up this feeling for a drink. Nothing at all.
Thanks for your wishes Rusty!
Tony - welcome back! What KTAB said - it takes guts to come back and post again. Stick close by - the Army is always here to offer support.
Satzy - don't know what to say - each individual reacts differently to each method. Soft love, tough love, no love. I guess the most you can do is hope that soon he will realize how badly AL affects our lives and want sober bad enough to get and stay that way. So tough on us parents when our kids are troubled for whatever reason...
Hello to anyone else who might be out there. Hope you're having as good a day as possible!!!Last edited by stirly-girly; October 10, 2017, 07:41 AM.For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

First off, CONGRATS STIRLY, an inspiration indeed. Also interesting to hear what Molly was saying re 2 years AF being the beginning of long term sobriety. Kinda makes sense suppose.
