Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol - October 2017

If its too heavy for me to lift I nip downstairs to the cafe and grab anyone avaiable.......sometimes even a customer. My spine's more important than heaving settees about.

We've got the big shop to do. Defo Aldi today.........don't care if we've got vouchers for Tesco.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Mornin ladies 😀

Molls sorry you're not getting a proper sleep at all. Can only imagine how awful it must be. Hope ye can get it sorted x Delighted for Joey and ye all - it's 'the making of him' by sound of things. And you shouldn't be lifting or hauling anything in work missus- you gotta think of your own back! Seriously now.

Good to hear the 'ol neck not so bad Jacks. You know no offence meant by the 'ol bit, I hope? Refer to parts of myself as ol too!

Hiya Mary sorry if woke ya last night! Lol. My wee lady is just that, a proper lady. Always saying thank you and so gracious. She was a teacher in a quite prestigious school up ere. Taught all subjects, including deportment!!! Love that. Could teach this clumpsy lump a thing or two!

Been up since 6 so decided instead of moping around in my pjs drinking endless mugs of coffee to get readied and out the door. Been to Asda then Homebase and now home with the makings of a nice soup and some buns for the girls in work tomorrow and the right tools I hope to do a little DIY! Uniforms washed n hanging ready to be ironed.

Gonna make a start on the soup now, check out you tube for advice on DIY project and then maybes a wee lie down again- will see

Have a lovely day all x

Good Morning, Army!!
sweetpea...lovely to see you here. I missed your posts.

Jackie-so sorry you neck is bad. So is mine. I am on Gabapentin for two herniated discs in my neck that are pressing on my spine. It's a miracle drug, really. Glad to see you have a dirty mind and a compassionate soul.

Molly-you're a no nonsense kind of person. LOL It bugs me too when I hear young people bitch and moan. GRRR!

Ok, off to work out and start my day. I am helping my 90-year-old mother with chores today. She told me yesterday that she doesn't know what she would do without me. Got off the phone and bawled. When I was drinking, I would chug-a-lug a 1/2 bottle of vodka and then drive the 50 miles to see her. I realize now that look in her eyes when she would greet me was one of sadness. Now her eyes twinkle when I walk through the door. She makes me laugh. I call her my Goofy Girl.

Have a lovely sober Saturday, everyone!

Jacks laughed at that post. You stay that way x

Pure bollixed now. What should've been 1 day of DIY has turned into what may take a week or more thanks to my not so handy work!!! I'll never learn. Hate getting tradesmen in as I feel they take the piss And never do the job I want but looks like I may need one!! On a positive note got my soup made and its delish but still hafta make the buns for tomorrow. No sneaky lie-down today so will try hit the leaba extra early.

Youse are fierce quiet these days, hope all ok folks x

Hello hello, everyones having a busy saturday.
Was all set for the inlaws tomorrow, but they canceled. One is recovering from an illness and it has hit them so hard - we were trying to get them to have a change of scenery, but sort off knew they would cancel.

Googled that curry JackieClaire, what does Shatkora taste like? Looks like a lime?

Your Mam/mom/mum (to cover mothers globally) sounds like she still has great fun Rusty!

I would love to have done deportment lessons sweetpea29, think its too late now!!

Morning ladies, well well Sweetpea how lovely to see you among us again.
So it has been a shitty week, both my uncle and my great aunt from either side of my family died within two days of each other in different ends of the country. I attended their funerals whilest coughing, barking and wheezing as this infection has gotten on to my chest now and making my asthma an issue. I probably shouldn't have gone to either in hindsight. I would go to the doctor this morning but it is Sunday, I assume they don't open on a bank holiday Monday either.

Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Morning, Army! It's 4:02 AM. Leaving for the airport in a couple of hours....off to Utah.

Tabbers-so sorry for your loss. Wow, you have had a sh@tty week. Please see a doctor ASAP before you get pneumonia.

Molly, I wish your Mom would have lived to be 90. Absolutely, when my mom passes on, it will be the biggest test of my sobriety. I want to develop some new hobbies before that time comes.

Big hellos to everyone!

I was in Utah once!!! strange place.... we were in the company of an Englishman who wanted a bottle of whiskey - he disappeared for about 3 hours - when he arrived back he said he could have bought half a dozen guns but ne'er a bottle of grog to be had!!!
90 IS some age... dunno that I want to last that long. well unless I'm in tip top shape...
Heading out on the bike shortly - there was a run for breast cancer going on that Joe was mad to go on - but I pointed out to him that I was NOT going to take on the social side of it - and bearing in mind the cause it was for I'm guessing it would be women led - so he's agreed we'll go off on our own up the country -- much better!!
Talk later x

Hi, I'm back.

Jackie-thanks for saying kind words about my mom. I appreciate it, but I do not want it to be a dominant topic where I become predictable and boring....so, to that end....let's move on to Molly's trip to Utah.:happy2: Utah is a very beautiful state, with the mountains, etc. Heavily LDS (Latter-Day Saints/Mormon) as you know. The people there are extremely friendly to me, BUT...yeah, trying to find a bottle of whiskey....you would really have to look. You are not allowed to just go to the bar and order a drink at any of the restaurants...you MUST order food, too. AND....my client there.. whose great, great grandpa was the founder of his company (70 years ago) was a polygamist who had seven wives. Yes, the family picture is a prominent fixture at this company....all the wives in their hideous white prairie dresses and long braided hair...and the kids, too. So unfair though. The guy got to um...."have his way" with a different woman every night of the week where the wives are required to share him. Can you imagine the scenarios? "Oh Shirley, I love it when you do that to me." "I'm not Shirley!!!! I'm Hazel!!!!" and then she promptly smacks him across the face. LOL. Yeah, I can see this now....our wonderful guy friends here like @Tabbers, Guitarista, @MrVervill, abcowboy, techie, are probably thinking...a different woman every night sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Just kidding.

Have fun on your walk, Molly!

Off to the airport.

Have a lovely day, everyone!
