Morning folks and great to see you Nora!! Hope you and yours had a lovely Christmas? I'm up even earlier than Rusty here right now (3.07AM) to watch the cricket -- my aussie mates are going a storm -- great stuff altogether!

Had a lovely day yesterday and it was a day that really brought it home to me how any of our vulnerabilities or sadness's are magnified so much - my eldest son who in fairness is quite commitment phobic had split with a fairly long-term girlfriend quite a while back - but he was sort of sad for a short while yesterday -- her not being around was sort of exposed... I s'pose with all the babies around and everything it was just more poignant.. he's absolutely fine - the point I make being that we can all be like that over the Christmas period when everyone else seems like the Waltons -- well I'll surprise ye all --- most families are NOT the Waltons no matter what the appearance..

We get along with our lot whatever that may be - be grateful for what we have and not concentrate on what we don't have... the key to happiness - or more 'contentment' like Tabbers was talking about last week...

ach enough of all that - just ruminating here in the lovely peaceful quiet of the house..
now back to my tea and toast and the cricket ;-)

Good morning from the late shift. Molly is half way through her day. No none of us are Walton’s but it’s great to be content with what we have. Had lovely day yesterday and ate way too much. Had a lie in this morning. Need to get up now and get organized as going to the airport to pick up daughters boyfriend. Lovely to see people checking in, wave to everyone.

          Morning lovelies,
We aren't half getting walloped in the cricket...........Mr JC's just looked at the score with one eye open and winced. They'd better pull their socks up by next June as him and the S&H got tickets to see England v Australia (from Mr JC's sister)play a day match down the road in Durham .

Got the another crowd of folk for lunch today...........bit more relaxed in fact so relaxed we're using paper plates and dare I say bought quiches and potato salad.

Doubt there's a thing called a perfect Christmas and to be honest wouldn't have it any other way. Its a poignant time, people we wish could be with us, people we thank god aren't and I know I tend to have a ponder on the year past and the year to come more so than I do on New Year's Eve.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

oh I dunno - I wouldn't mind a perfect one haha -- mind you - I thought Christmas WAS perfect as a child but I'm sure it wasn't behind the scenes so to speak!
Don't think there'll be any problem with the English cricketeers in June - they can set up their home pitches the way they like them.. should be a doddle -- what a lovely present!!

I am glad all is over tbh - it was a lot of work this year - lot of people - so nearly glad to be going back to work tomorrow - the balance of power has shifted in the house - Joe is much more the boss of housey things now whereas I used to be and that's brilliant - hadn't really noticed till this week..

              Morning!
              Happy Saint Stephen's Day (boxing!)..
Full on mental day yesterday, the house is coming down with wrapping paper, toys, cardboard, food, cakes, pies and chocolate.
Magic day, especially for the kids. (Also for me, as the head was completely clear, another happy Christmas).
Avoided the sherry trifle, was absolutely laced and sent it back home with MIL.
have a weird croupish cough which is dragging on my chest, but 11 hours sleep so all is well with the world again.

Lovely to see everyone posting yesterday :heartbeat:
              Off to do very little..
              Back in a bit.

                      Night Molls,
All quiet here. Lovely lunch always a lot more relaxed than yesterday.............although there's still a mountain of food and cakes left and no one touched the cheese.........but I'm goodness me I'm tired with an extra dose of tired on top.

Its been lovely.........ever so grateful to be sober.

Good morning all. Obviously have caught up on my sleep, awake bright and early. Had nice day yesterday. Daughters Norwegian boyfriend cooked one of their traditional Christmas dinners for us. He brought the meat etc with him. Can’t pronounce the name but was pork belly with cracking, sausage, two types of cabbage. Very tasty and nice to be handed it.

Need to start my healthy eating plan in the New Year but for now I’m just thankful to be alcohol free and clear headed.

Morning all, not a bad day weather wise might take dogface out soon. I went racing yesterday and had a lovely day out, most people were drinking very little I noticed and I was thinking to myself that soon we will have the 'dry Jan' being promoted. For most people that's just following a healthy eating/drinking regime for a few weeks after the excesses of Christmas but in my experience it makes life so much easier for those of us who have AL issues and need to stop. I know it shouldn't matter what others think or say about if we are drinking or not in the early weeks but human nature being what it is, it does. So for anyone who is reading this and thinking I need to stop the madness maybe Jan 1st is a good day not to pick up that first drink. Have a good day today folks.

Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

ah thanks Cowboy! d'ya know I took my quit date down last year cos I didn't want to be sort of oh I dunno -- boastful or something - but what a nonsense - in AA circles anyone with less than about 20 years sobriety is considered a 'newbie' so they would laugh at my self importance haha!!! And yes - I mean it - thank you for your congratulations --- but
