Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-December 2017
We are here to help Tony 100% not good at lots of things but this? Yup we can be good at this - we have ALL been there - in my case numerous times -and it can feel insurmountable -its not - but you HAVE to trust that we are speaking the truth that life without drinking is NOT just possible it's infinitely preferable - always hated the expression it's ' it's hard but it's doable' - bollix to that I'd say - all it is is mindset - dredge up the strength to say 'enough' - then we are here to point you at the tools and tricks to navigate the first few days and then you'll be in control - IMAGINE - in a short few days you can have regained control over your life - it IS as simple as that - cos regardless of what messes and muddles your relationships etc may be in - they can be sorted out one way or the other with a start of recovery
But you HAVE to trust what you hear- from here or from meetings or any experts - I thought everyone was talking bullshit when drinking
C'mon this can be the start - it's up to you now xxxxxLast edited by mollyka; December 5, 2017, 01:26 AM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

What part of me couldn't understand that each and every time I lifted a drink that either was one more than I planned or inappropriate place or time - or drank when I didn't even WANT to - that my drinking was NOT under my control and needed to be stopped - no it wasn't relaxing or just good craic or everybody does it from time to time NO NO NO I didn't have control and to live your life by the rules set by something in a bottle !!??? Well at best that's a damn sad shame - and at worst??? Fill in your own gaps ....Last edited by mollyka; December 5, 2017, 03:50 PM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

rustop59............thing is I started to listen to the old timers..............the want of what they had became bigger than what was in my glass....
Town was heaving. Got a lovely wee Christmas market going on and got a lovely pair of intertwined (is that a word) dolphins for the S&H's girlfriend. Fab hot chocolate with my mate and did try a bit of shopping but the shops were so damned hot if I go back into town I'll be wearing flip-flops and a sun dress.
Mr JC's got the day of tomorrow so taking my Aunt out for lunch.
tonyniceday............give us a wave, please. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Morning all. Off to the lovely city of Durham and taking my favourite Aunt ( Granny of the Boston Babes who are now 8 years old) in the world out for lunch.
And when I get back going find where blessed spell check has buggered off to and also to find out how to the notifications I do want on new phone and get rid of the ones I don't want.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Jude58.............you must tell us what happened at 9 years...........apologies if you've posted the reason somewhere else but I'd be curious to know.........just to tuck it in my tool box.
