Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-January 2018

Evening,
Ah JC, youve had a few emotional hours:hug: I think Id be exactly the same, just want them home for hugs and support, and of course she knows that.

Molly, can you stretch the op out until the latter end of 6 months? thats some number he did on his foot!

Think Tabbers and Rustop work at my place, BIG changes here too! I was in there at ridiculous O'Clock this morning. Few days off now, might head to Wicklow tomorrow - weather a bit shit tho.

Completely uninspired by food at the moment too. Maybe we need MORE cookbooks:happy2:

Late late late check in folks.
Happy New Year and congrats to Tabberooney

Jacks they tear the heart out of you - kids :hug:

Chin up she'll probably be much happier once she makes the break - and move on with her life.
No point holding on to it if it's dead .

Good morning everyone. Glad all worked out ok JC. As I said they are a worry. Poor hubby Molly, not a great start to the New Year, hope you manage to sort out something regarding your holidays.

Wild last night and this morning. Going on road trip with hubby to pick up something down the county. Will get my lunch out so might as well. Not motivated enough to start packing away Xmas stuff.

Thanks, Tabbers, we're catching up tomorrow.....how's you stepping into your second year.

These days age with instant messenging is a nightmare. I'm not saying go back to pigeon post but wish there was a some kind of app which pops up and asks you if you're really, really sure you want to send this............then keeps hold of it for 10 minutes.

Instant everything JC, tis the way of the world. I always re-read an email/message before sending and never send one in anger, good advice but easier said than done.
'Second year' sounds very strange indeed to be honest, probably because it is a complete unknown to me but its all good. I like 'Dry Jan' being something that I have already experienced.

Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB)............I bought a wee AA book called Daily Reflections........its just a paragragh a day

And this was 2nd January...........now whether your an AAer or not it made complete sense. Just insert any name where the AA goes.

AS BILL SEES IT, p. 8
Practicing the A.A. program is like building a house. First I had to pour a big, thick concrete slab on which to erect the house; that, to me, was the equivalent of stopping drinking. But it's pretty uncomfortable living on a concrete slab, unprotected and exposed to the heat, cold, wind and rain. So I built a room on the slab by starting to practice the program. The first room was rickety because I wasn't used to the work. But as time passed, as I practiced the program, I learned to build better rooms. The more I practiced, and the more I built, the more comfortable, and happy, was the home I now have to live in.
IamMary........not spoken to her properly yet. Just a quick one as she's at the house feeding the animals and trying to get her head round stuff.

Hi Army Friends,
satz123-I totally get what you are saying. Just posted on the Steppers' Thread-
I'm here. My brother is taking my mom to the ER as I type this...she fell over 2 weeks ago and did not tell us!!!:cuss::cuss: She told me the pain was bearable during the day but really bad towards evening. She did not want to worry me...and my sister, her primary caregiver, is stuck in SC due to the weather. I did not mean to desert our thread but I did not have anything new to say...until today. :-( Back later.
Jackie-have you heard from your daughter? Is she OK?

Molly-sorry to hear about hubs being in pain. :-(

Geez, what a great way to start the New Year! SHIT

Hello Army friends!

Glad Jenny is sorting things out Jackie -I have grown up children with their own kids and I still have many sleepless nights worrying about them. I always thought that when they got through the teenage years I could relax. No chance!!

Molly sorry to hear about Joe perhaps the operation can be postponed.

I often think about posting here but never feel confident that I have anything relevant to contribute-- even though I have been reassured that that does not matter!

Going to be 71 at the end of this week it is such a relief to have got to this age feeling/being fit and healthy. Have entered 3 marathons this year and often have to pinch myself (metaphorically) that I can do this.

Now I need to sort the washing and ironing!
