Re: One Step at a Time - January 2018

abcowboy - thanks for blowing the dust off the steppers. I think I need to at least post a hello when I check in.
NoSugar - thanks for joining in. I tried to reply to you earlier but it was hard on my phone. I laughed at you saying when they have you outnumbered. On Christmas, we had my DIL's sister & her 2 kids over. I would be holding the baby & then the 6 year old needed me. I felt torn - and that was in a room with 5 other adults.

Liz - how is the babysitting going? Is hubby doing it alone on the days you work? You must hate going to work on those days! More importantly - how did poor Erin do? I'll bet it was hard to leave him.

Pauly - it was good to see you girl! I try to get over to the Abs to say hi but you know I'm not good at remembering. Must be getting soon for Louie to be a big brother???

Rusty - hope your Mom is feeling much better.

Re: One Step at a Time - January 2018

Thanks everyone for the posts about my mom. :heartbeat: The ER doc gave her muscle relaxants but my sister (who is so rarely wrong) feels she needs to see an orthopedic doc, because she has had hip replacement surgery (many years ago) and she has such bad arthritis in her hands and hips. When I talked to mom late yesterday afternoon, she was going to take a nap. I haven't talked to her since then.
NoSugar-yes, my mom IS one tough lady but she lives in constant pain. She NEVER complains until it's so bad we need to take her to the ER. By then, every situation is truly a crisis. My mom and I are really, really, close, so when she is in pain, I am, too! :-( Great to see you on our thread. Please post here more often if you have time. :-)

Pauly-when is Kell's baby due? You're probably sick of answering that question. LOL

Hi to everyone else...I am working today but I have a really long commute so I better get going.

Thank you all for your concern. It really made me feel better.

Re: One Step at a Time - January 2018

Rusty, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom! I assume the ER did xrays and didn't find anything? Your sister is probably right that she should see an orthopedic doctor. I hope she gets healed up and feels better!

Liz, how's that babysitting going? I am the same as Pauly regarding my gkids. I want to make them both happy but when there are two, sometimes it just isn't possible! But, distraction often is the key. Hey, come to think of it, distraction is one of the tools that helps me against my cravings when they crop up unexpectedly!

Nora, sorry you were on your own for a couple of days. I hope when you feel lonely that you will pop in over at the café from time to time.

NS, I started a lap afghan in October. It was slow going at first because I was learning a couple of new stitches (Prompted by the Mindful Knitting book). I finally got my colors chosen and my over all plan made when Christmas hit. All the shopping and everything that goes with the season shut down my knitting time! Today my daughter comes for our Christmas. She lives in New Orleans and owns a wine shop so she is unable to come during the regular holidays as it is her shop's busiest time, as you can imagine. She and her 6yo son will be here for the next few days so we will also have my son and grandchildren come for a night or two as well. After they head back home we will finally take down all the Christmas decorations and tree. Then, I hope to find my way back to my afghan project!

Good morning! Just lost a long post, darn it!
Rusty, I hope your mom is ok!
Nora, hope you're feeling better after the stomach flu! That's the worst!
It has been a hectic few days! Love having Logan here! He literally lights up our lives! It's snowy here today, so mom and dad are home with him today! Seriously, two days back to work and Erin manages a snow day. I am working Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Hubby is so hands on. He grew up with nephews around. I remember bringing my babies home and thinking what do I do with it? He knew and he did!
Anyway, thankful for snowy day and that I don't need to be out in it! We will probably head over to my parents later and dig them out, but for now we are content

I'm impressed, Dill. Knitting is my 'immediate gratification' hobby. I usually have 2-4 projects going, all with yarns I LOVE to touch and work with. They tend to be smallish (nothing as challenging as an afghan!) like scarves, cowls, and the fingerless mittens. I get BORED easily, I guess. Good luck with your project and I hope you have a lovely delayed holiday with your kids and grandkids (and I hope your daughter does not bring you any of her product :nonchalance:!).

Hi folks. So great to see you all here.

Did I tell you that when we were moving everything out for painting, I found an afghan I must have worked on probably 30 years ago? Never finished it and it was so close to being finished. LOL It is over 5 feet long. I took it, finished that row and decided I was done. LOL I've been using it ever since. I do have another one that I've worked on off & on for the past few years. i guess I'll pull it out & finish that one instead of waiting another 20 years. LOL
dill and NoSugar - I never had any luck learning to knit. I think it looks so cool. I do enjoy crocheting though.

Liz - how funny that Erin already had a snow day. Good for her. So happy that you all are able to babysit.

Rusty - how's your Mom?

Pauly - did you say that Kell was going to the Dr? And you know I love you and sorry that I was a pain in the ass but glad you forgive me.

I've got a sinus headache that just won't quit. Hubby just took my temp and it's 99.9. Drat. Just going to have some soup and see if that clears me up.

Is eyebrow tattooing a big thing where you all are? I know 2 people that have had it done recently and another one has had an appointment set up for a month.

J&C have a Doctor's appointment tomorrow. I think this is technically their '1st visit' because the previous ones were at ER. So that is our exciting news. :yay: He said the genetic testing is on the 10th. I'm not up to date on all this stuff.

Loved the story of the found afghan project, Nora! What was the stitch? I do both knit and crochet but I must say, crochet is my favorite go to. That being said , there is a favorite dishcloth pattern I make that is knit that is simple quick. I think it is amazing what can be done with knitting needles or with crochet hook. The options are seemingly endless! Nora and NoSugar, have you ever gotten "hooked" (pardon the pun, LOL) watching crochet and knit tutorials on YouTube? It's fantastic what you can learn there! I'll tell you what tho. Knitting and drinking do not go well together! Sadly I have had many times that I had to "unknit" the next morning which was well deserved punishment! LOL

Pauly, just now getting that crochet blanket done? Oh well! Better late than never! :happy2:

Hello Liz, Pauly, Rusty, and all who check in or read.
