Congrat's on 8 weeks Starty farty! Now that's somethin'. :happy2:

JC. I just learned with horror that Point break wasn't actually filmed in Bells beach Victoria, Australia as many Aussies thought! The last scene was 'set' there, but actually filmed in Oregon USA. Surf was probably too rough for the precious dears. Great movie. They recently made a remake i believe.

Tom Crus, the sleep we get now is pure sleep. Might be short but refreshing.
D'ya know what used to drive me BONKERS... when we went away on our own - yeah -- 'the look' - and the silent sigh.... BUT we had two pals who loved their jar - and when we went away with them -- norra bother to him having a pint in the airport at 11am --- hypocritical smug bastard were some of the politer words I used :cuss: (in my head of course!) Now must away to bed - was minding the Princess for a couple of hours and we've navigated Peppa Pig to the Nth degree -- she's the best!!!! Night folks xx

In fairness I do only need about 5 hours a night tho...
I should stop worrying about me then :haha: Honest i was, like last night slept for 2.5 hrs then up for AGES tossing and turning and getting another staggered/light couple of hours before the alarm goes off... and i is like, WTF, i just ran my little cotton socks off, my hip needs replaced (have been hobbling today!!!) and everything in my body is knackered, thought i'd least have a good nights sleep?!?!?!

Like you Molls, I seem to get by on less rather than more - maybe 6 does it.

Evening troops,

How's Monday been? Just had a massive ranting phone call to me maw - after Friday's episode at work hand;t spoke about it apart from on here, so hand;t realised how much venom had been stock-piled. Unleashed in me maw's ear. Poor thing. (thank you maw!)

Well done start-mcfarty on all dem weeks! And of course Mr G and, indeed, everyone else.

Now to leaba - sleep well (however long you sleep for)

Love it! Beautiful country there. St Mary's lighthouse - wow. Def need full wetsuit. Surfing. What a great thing to be doing as part of recovery. The power of nature always reminds me that there are bigger forces out there than me. It's not all about me. Gets me outside of myself for awhile.

Morning all, thank you collectively for all your words of advice, encouragement and hope regarding over 50s' job prospects. I don't have any doubt that I am an asset, trying to convince a prospective employer of that when we reach a certain age is what concerns me. I have however decided I shall start looking for an alternative to my current employment, and in my own time.

Is there snow on the way? The radio/TV/newspapers haven't mentioned it........honestly you would think it was a remake of that film 'The day after tomorrow' on its way for the country in the next few days. Shops here with all the shelves of bread empty, sold out, no milk left, laughable really.

Load of school closures........funny thing is back in the day (the 60's) I can't remember the schools closing.........my brother and I just used to get 'a put yer wellies on and you might want a hat' (not that any self respecting 12 year old would be seen dead in a wooly hat) and then a boot out the door.

Well the huskies are harnessed up and we're off to the bus stop.

I woke into day 11 on this Monday morning. I slept better last night as I stopped trying to change my sleeping aids. It's too soon for that goal. I started sleeping better without the alcohol in my system, but I became too ambitious trying to change my sleeping aids to natural ones. I'm a true insomniac, so the natural route may or may not work for me. It's too soon to put that pressure into my goals as that could become a stumbling block from sleep deprivation.

To that I'll add this quote I found reading my notebook this morning.

"Determine what specific goal you want to achieve. Then dedicate yourself to its attainment with unswerving singleness of purpose, the trenchant zeal of a crusader." (Paul J. Meyer)
Crusader - God yes - don't mess with sleep. I'd say 90% of relapses or continued drinking are because people know they won't be able to sleep
