ach wouldn't imagine I could ever afford a city gaff.. loved Barcelona - tho mind you - we were in Lisbon a couple of times slightly off season and it was freezing!! we do get loads of 'mild' here - it's more sort of WARM I'd like -- like 25 degrees WARM!!!
anyway -- like you -- I CAN dream - but dreaming is all it is -- impoverished I am!! and even more impoverished when I have to retire.. thankfully not for a good few years yet tho!

Sure Molls think about it. For what you'd pay for a place you'd get a fair few 'jaunts' over and back on Ryanair.
And the feckin' family would probably follow you abroad if you had a place :egad:

Good Morning!

JackieClaire, mollyka, and rustop59, thank you for your kind words and support.

Molly-that must be so hard for you to go through your mom's things in your garage...lots of memories there, right? Your mum was lucky to have such a wonderful daughter.

Jackie-my sister said the same thing to her kids that you did to hers...I will never do this to you...I will not burden you with all my stuff to sort out, and when it's time, I will go to an assisted-living place willingly and not put up a fight.

Big waves and lots of love to all you wonderful people. Thank you for allowing me to reach out when I needed it.

P.S. I LOATHE HATE DESPITE DETEST public transportation, too!

Can she not do her shopping on-line?

We don't need two cars........too good a transport system.....buses and the Metro.........obviously I don't have to do the rush hour any more.......and the price of the upkeep of another car , being close to town and the price of parking just doesn't warrant it. Tesco is only a 10 minute walk............obviously if I was in the wilds of Northumberland it would defo be an option.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Back from me jaunt.. THINK i've prepped tomorrow's lessons... so, all I need to do is... well I do need to read (I'll stop reading when I done my masters. But I know even the reading i'm doing is procrastinating... don;t know what my aversion is as I enjoy what i study?!?! Maybe just tired or feart to get started.

Or lazy :haha:

As for sunnier climes, well, i don;t like it too hot... and the thing about holidays is i'm not a fan of the travel, UNLESS it's a travelling sort of holiday. Just want to get there without dealing with the shit of getting on/off planes, trains and whatever else I need to share space with others. Every train journey I take to London (now fairly frequent due to family down south) I end up silently cursing whoever is sitting next to or near me. Travelling brings out my most unsaintly misanthropic qualities :haha:

Mortal sin on a Sunday. Normal sin other days. I’m suporting the growing ‘crumpled’ trend.. it’s how ya wear it!

We have to drive to pubic transport, so no point really. I do enjoy a train trip down the country though, especially with the kids. Then the moaning is just postponed cos they have to walk everywhere...

Ah I know - we don't need two cars since Joe retired and there's a bus the end of my lane to city centre but just it's my complete independence - couldn't even imagine not having my no claims bonus or just anyone patronising me - it's how I was reared i spose and part of that rubbed off on me

Yes re. the ironing - iron about a 10th of what I used to iron and yes re. bringing family on hols when Joe wasn't free or even just days out now with the babies - don't imagine they'd be too chuffed getting a bus - Joe will get free travel when he's old - he thinks it'll be great - GUARANTEED he'll never use it - ever!!!!

God yes it was a life saver when they were little...........Wednesday afternoon was a trip to the airport to watch flights coming in and out. There was a cafe, free parking and a viewing platform. Now its at least £200 a minute to park, there's a hideously expensive cafe and you can't see the planes until your through passport control.

By the time we get ou bus passes we'll be too old to leave the house unless its in an ambulance.
